Small grains of salt

343i have done this before, let’s not forget the dumpster fire that halo 4, 5 and MCC have being. All those trailers looked interesting and get me invested in the games release but this time no. The trailer has sparked an interest and I do enjoy playing as MC but what real improvements will Halo infinite have other than a great art style?

Halo 5,
Was crap (the story anyway) be aware that the game came first, which means it should be the main vehicle for the halo story. I should not need to read books or comics and watch tv shows to get what the games story is relating to or pushing for. Attached lore should never expand the story from the finishing point of the games told story. Most players had no clue what happened from the conclusion of 4 to the start of 5 because most wouldn’t of had time or are not interested in pursuing all this expanded story material made after the ending of halo 4’s campaign. This poor way of developing a game only appeals to a small group of fans that do have the time and are willing to pursue reading and watching all extended story before the drop of a new game. So please stop with this style of campaign design philosophy.

It also had me lose interest after a month of multiplayer. Although it played well and reminded me a little bit about halo, it wasn’t true halo. The main issue was how boring and stale the multiplayer really is. The games play out the same way over and over. Not to mention how boring the maps are and that all comes down to 343i continuing to push in mechanics that don’t belong in a halo game. Sprint in halo 5 is worthless you are either using it to cut the pointless map design that allows it in game to get back into combat distance or using it to run away from combat. You can refine and increase movement speed in other ways, movement speed increase by x% for each second you are out of combat, reduces to normal when you stop moving or get shot. Thruster is by far the only good inclusion as it provides a push to cover mechanic or avoid danger.

My thoughts and opinions, but I’m waiting for evidence that 343i is ready to respect what halo is as a game. It was like they got given a perfectly baked cake and all they needed to do was put on the icing but instead had the nerve to go ‘that cake looks great but i think we’ll bake our own.’ and that is why halo is less impressive with each new installment. I want fun maps, creative improvements to the halo 3 style of multiplayer.

Nice trailer but I await evidence that Halo is going in a better direction than at current.

343i has stated that they intend to tell a simpler story in Infinite, so we’ll see how that goes.

Halo 5 launched with very little content which I think was a big contributor to its multiplayer going stale. While I prefer classic Halo you’ve got to understand Halo 5’s gameplay isn’t bad and has gathered a following.

  1. halo 4 had a good story imo multiplayer was eh didn’t feel like halo still had fun in it with friends
  2. definitely agree about 5’s campaign now the multiplayer for 5 is fun espesically with friends I definitely prefer the older ones though
  3. I believe MCC was outsourced correct me if im wrong on that one

We will patiently wait, and I understand they screwed up before, but I do not believe they will actively troll us when the next game basically determines life or death of this franchise.

Personally I’ll be taking your constructive criticisms with small grains of salt since you haven’t even bothered to make any others since the game launched almost three years ago. Jumping in at the eleventh hour to remind people that 343 Halo isn’t Bungie Halo makes you late to the party and doesn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. Or anything I care about. And if you really need to turn back time that desperately then the dumpster fire of MCC is working just fine now and you can play the craptastic Halo 3 until your parents put you in videogame rehab. Heck, you don’t even have to -Yoink!- yourself with a 343 product if you feel that strongly about it. Halo 3 is still up and running on xbl and it’s backward compatible for your single-minded and single-speed gaming pleasure. Go to town.

You do realize that H3 was the most played game on xbl for 3 years right? Obviously something about H3 made millions of players flock to it rather than play something like cod. It’s hilarious to see you bash arguably THE BEST Halo game of all time. Your either daft or incredibly salty towards H3.

Think you are the narrow minded one.
MCC is not fixed and stating that it is means you are late to the party on knowing that they are still working on a patch for it.
I never stated I want bungie halo, I want 343i to build a halo game that respects what halo is. Halo has it’s own identity. Halo 5 goes in the right direction (multiplayer wise only) but 343i released a bare bones game. Last I played halo 5 was when pve fire fight and big team came out but these are all after thoughts and played as such. I cannot say if these modes are any better but I’m not close minded and have reinstalled the game (the powers of the new infinite trailer) I’m not here to attack others like you clearly are, you may not care about the things I’ve said but everyone is free to express opinions. I’m not here to state bungie halo is better than 343i halo I’m stating that the track record of 343i is making me wait for more info on the upcoming halo title. Have a nice day angry boy.

I don’t know the MCC story but it was clear that the game was not tested adequately before shipping. I do however like how they will be fixing it and be removing the cross over game playlists and having there own playlists. If halo 5 is fun what makes you still prefer the old halos? I think for me it is game type variety and maps, all maps felt like they offered a different approach to playing the game.

He’s a casual so he has no choice but to be narrow minded.

wow lol narrow minded cause I find halo 5 to be fun lmao older games had better and more gametypes such as juggernaut and don’t have to worry about -Yoinking!- Spartan charge god I hate that -Yoink-

Honestly if it weren’t for the art style change I would have absolutely NO interest in the game, or any shred of hope it would be any good.
The change in art style shows us that 343 are FINALLY listening somewhat, and is absolutely a step in the right direction. I have hope they can make Halo good again, but this is their last chance. If Halo Infinite isn’t a good HALO game, and a good game period, then Halo is dead.

I’m perfectly well aware of how popular Halo 3 was. I was one of the players who put it at the top of xbl month after month after month. But that doesn’t blind me to its faults and I don’t see much of anything in that game that I need to repeat. That said, if you care to take a look at my forum record you will also see that I’ve been a pretty vocal critic of Halo 5. My point, which I may have made poorly, is that I would be more tolerant of other people’s criticisms of the game if they’d spent more than three weeks playing it and if they’d spent a little more time trying to give the developer some worthwhile feedback. Maybe the OP has done that on reddit or youtube but he hasn’t been doing it on waypoint. Playing a game for a few weeks, uninstalling it, and then turning up here two and half years later to make vague ultimatums about how 343 hurt your feelings by making Halo their own… sorry, but that doesn’t wash with me. Play the game long enough to understand what’s really wrong with it and then say so at every opportunity, not just when the developer launches a teaser for the next game.

The tone was set in the first line of the original post when gavstructo referred to every game 343 ever made as dumpster fires. And the thing is: arguments could be made. I’ve made many of them myself. But it’s no way to start a conversation, and it’s late to jump in on one that’s been going on since this game launched. So I’m salty but “dumpster fire” isn’t?
