Players who go online to play Halo 4 before the release date are apparently greeted with [redacted]. This means that the matchmaking isn’t totally finished, and things are still being added. A ranking system is one of the last things 343i would finish, so it’s possible that the ranking system just isn’t “up” yet. There may be playlists that have Arena-style ranks that are still being worked on, and will be up soon.
I’m not trying to convince myself that there will be a real ranking system, since I don’t really care either way. I’m just stating that there may still be hope for ranked playlists.
