Either way, I thought I’d share this with everyone now that Filesharing is up and running.
While goofing around in Forge last month, testing things like the Maximum ‘Red-Crosshair’ Range of a few weapons, I noticed something familiar when I got to one of them.
Interestingly, the Human Sniper at 10x Zoom, maxes out at: 343m *
For reference, here is the same information compared to the previous two games:
- Halo 4 - Human Sniper @ 10x Zoom: 343m
- Reach - Human Sniper @ 10x Zoom: 228m
- Halo 3 - Human Sniper @ 10x Zoom: 143m
- Technically… you can get the crosshair to flash in and out of red all the way out to 343.25m, but it is very sporadic.
I wouldn’t be surprised, it seems like a 343 thing to do.
Now we need to find out at which ranges the enemy AI do not notice us sniping.
H3: AI on The Ark are pretty lax yet AI on Sierra 117 are very attentive. I had to exit the map to snipe.
Reach: Nightfall was the only opportunity where I did not have to leave the map. But nearby enemies were still alerted.
H4: I can’t even recall a moment where I used the sniper but I went outside with a friend and was sniping Jackals while having most of my view obscured by unrendered texture… I was only able to snipe because of the Jackal shields

The beginning of Requiem where you first encounter enemies (ie: the same location of the 8 Zealot Snipers) is the best testing ground I can think of for that…
