small but effective way to bridge gap to next halo

With this being the biggest gap between halos ever at approx 5 years, if infinite is a 2020 game (previously every halo was maximum 3 years apart), I think its important to do something to extend the life on halo 5. I realize 343i is all hands on deck most likely with inifinite so any way to give halo 5 life would have to come at a relatively low cost in terms of developers time as to not in any way hinder the development of Infinite.

My suggestion is to bring back some form of the old Vidmaster Challenges. IMO Creating an Armour set or even just fancy emblems is much easier then adding new Maps or Game modes. Especially since the Incredible Forge community continues to create Incredible stuff.
(I recently tried the maps Excalibur, NXIUM and Collide and they are incredible, I can post links if people are interested)

With “Videmaster Challenges” Waypoint can be used to track progress and REQ packs can be used to deliver rewards when the challenges are completed, reducing work for 343i in terms of creating a an in game UI for this. If we are just talking emblems then it would be very minimal in terms of dev time… It could even contain concept art from Halo infinite, how cool would that be?? Armour sets would be better obviously but they would also come at a more significant cost for 343i Artists and developers.

So as a community what are some challenges you would theoretically like to see?
Note: Keep in mind, as seen with Helioskrill challenges can come from MCC and unlock rewards in H5 as its all done via waypoint

some of my suggestions might be:

  • Annual: Hit Onyx (or diamond/other) rank in all playlists for 4 straight seasons - Team LASO: Complete H5 campaign LASO, 4 player co-op. - Fear the Pink Mist: Kill a Warzone FF boss with all players using Needlers - House Rules: Win 25 custom games using a player created map and game mode.
I tried to hit all 4 major aspects of the game (Arena, Campaign, FireFight, Customs) but i would love to see other players suggestions for challenges.

Good suggestions OP, but outside of playlist updates, community map injections and matchmaking tuning there aren’t going to be any further content updates made to the game. Things like this are out of scope for Halo 5 now

Hmm it kind of sucks that even new emblems are out of the scope for halo 5, especially since we are going into the longest Halo draught we have ever seen by a large margin. I definitely understand the reasoning behind it, but I just feel like since this is Microsofts flagship property that breathing a little life into the community as we head in to said draught should be a consideration.

However worst case scenario nothing happens; I think the discussion is still worth having as if the demand is high enough, and the right people see this discussion, it could be something that sneaks its way into halo Infinite… helping us Halo fans with the torch passing from infinite to whatever comes next. Making sure there are no “dead periods” (for lack of a batter term) between releases.

@ OP i hope something similair to the vidmasters return. Completing those were some of the most fun i have had in Halo.

If only stuff like that would have been there at the beginning

OP’s suggestion is a great idea! That sucks no more content will be coming for H5, but is understandable I guess. If not emblems in H5, why not possibly some exclusive waypoint avatars, banners, or badges? That may be easier to do, and would at least provide some incentive to take on the challenges and keep long time players engaged.

I would be all for this even if it was an achievement and nothing more.

I’m honestly glad new emblems are out of the question. There are too many as is.
