Small Arms game mode.

In Halo history some weapons are used much, some guns are used little. Some guns are tools and support weapons. Some for long range, some for short, some for anti-everything.

Yet lately some weapons don’t have a place. Halo:CE made every weapon useable and pointful. Yet lately it seems as if Halo has turned into 85% BR/DMR/Pistol and less about variety.

How can it be that out of several weapons that the new pistol, DMR and Needle Rifle have probably 1/3rd of the games total kills alone.

Well because every game is DMR start, or if it’s an AR and Pistol start you pick up a stronger weapon. Nobody goes out with an Assault Rifle and expects to get a running riot. And nobody picks up a Spiker or Plasma Rifle to replace there 3sk pistol.

I think Halo Reach could use a small arms playlist. In which the “weaker” weapons would be in. No power weapons. No sniper rifles, launchers, DMR’s or rifles. Where the Needler is your power weapon and the Spiker and Plasma Rifle would be useful.

The Modes

Small Arms Classic [No Load outs]

>Starting Weapon: Assault Rifle.

>Starting Grenades: 1 Frag [none on map]

>Weapons on map: Spiker(many) Plasma Rifle(many) Needler(1-2) Plasma Repeater(many) concussion rifle(1-2)

Small Arms LO (load out)

Load Outs:
Assault Rifle+Sprint

Plasma Rifle+Evade

Spiker+Drop Shield

Plasma Repeater+active camo

Assault Rifle+Jetpack

>Starting grenades: 1 per load out. None on map.

>Weapons on map: Same as before (look above)

Small Arms SnB (Spikes n Blobs (fun mode)

Two Load Outs

1-Needler+Plasma Grenade+Jetpack

2-Spiker+Plasma Grenade+Drop Shield

3-Conc Rifle+Jetpack

Weapons on Map: Needler, Conc Rifle, Spiker, plasma grenades.

Other Notes

In bigger modes vehicles are limited to Ghosts and Mangooses.

I think default magnum would be OK, since their ammo is so limited. Also, what about the plasma pistol?

Could be a change of pace.

Anyway the pistol may be OP compared to the rest. It would have to be limited. Maybe on bigger maps only. Yet it would have to be the Reach pistol not the Halo CEA pistol. Obvi.

I’d actually play such a mode from time to time.

There’s one thing that vanilla reach has more in common with halo 1 rather than halo 2/3 and that’s weapon variety. In vanilla i liked that DMR/needle rifle/AR/pistol all had their uses in the same game, and none were utterly dominant (well DMR was still the best, but still gave the other weapons a chance). Now in TU, the game feels very much like halo 3 again: 1 weapon that -Yoink- on all others so hard.

So yeah i’d vote for this AR only mode from time to time! After all, variety is the spice of matchmaking (hurr hurr).

True I forgot how much power the BR had. No wonder Bloom was added. Yet the SMG was really good in Halo 3 and duel wielding was fun.

Anyway I say the pistol could work for big maps. And yes the plasma pistol.

Overall weapons used would be : Assault Rifle, Spiker, Plasma Rifle, Plasma Repeater, Needler, Plasma Pistol, Pistol

Overall vehicles used would be: Ghost, Mangoose, Plasma Turret.

Objective Modes: MultiFlag, One flag, Multibomb, One bomb, King of the Hill and Oddball
