Slow turning?

Right, so first off I want to say that I play on sensitivity 10 with no problem.
Onto the topic though; Sometimes when simply turning in game, my guy will turn really really slowly. Not very often though, so I just call lag on that one. Fine. But, when I’m in vehicles, oh god. So many times I’ve been in a Ghost and when turning it feels like I’m on sensitivity 1. It turns so so sososo slowly and it’s really annoying. The same thing has happened to me in a Banshee before and it always makes me die because by the time I’ve turned someones run a few miles and Hi-jacked me. It really sucks. Anyone else get this and how can I fix it?

Stop boosting.

It is a glich or something, if it occurs, turn in the opposite direction for a split second and than turn back where you wanted to turn at strart, it should work than.

Yeah…I’m not an idiot, it happens when I’m not boosting.

I put that their simply so that some idiot (on these forms, a necessary precaution) didn’t say turn up your sensitivity.

You know, I’ve had this problem in the past… with a dodgy controller.

Not saying thats a problem solved, just another idea for you.

It was sarcasm, I didn’t mean any thing by it.

i play on sensitivity 4 and have never had an issue with slow turning, i often find vehicles turn too quickly tbh. lol

You could have something wrong with your controller, dust clogging the analogue sticks? take it apart and clean it out, see if it changes anything.

TRY DRIVING A HOG in customs for 10 minutes. It maybe your controler has bad slowturn.

I play on sensitivity 4 with no problems.

Oops… I was gonna say that 'til I saw “sensitivity 10” … Lol
I’d guess it’s a glitch or your controller…? Hasn’t happened to me as far as I remember…

It is most likely your controller, happened with one of ours. It is wierd. Maybe it is aim assist and your controller doing it.

Yeah, in reach it fuck3d me up a lot until we figured it out.

The issues lies within the controller.

If you have the money, but a high-end controller that directly addresses the issue, such as the MadCatz MLG controller ($100), or the Razer Onza Tournament Edition($60). Personally, I would recommend the MLG controller. All the components of the controller easily swap out and can be replaced, and you can change things like the control sticks to be different sizes and shapes, and you can adjust the controller weight. It’s expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Onzas are really nice for their added bumpers, but expect to replace it within 8 months of regular play. Joysticks are quick to go. Additionally, MLG controller is permitted at MLG/AGL events whereas the Onza is not. Not sure if that really applies to you or not…

Otherwise, there are some tutorials to attempt to fix your controller, but you’re going to need to open up your controller and do some sanding.

If you want a standard MS brand controller with the issue addressed, TheControllerShop.com sells them, but for the price, you may want to upgrade to a Onza or MLG controller.

Additionally, if you are using a WIRED MS brand controller, and a headset such as Astro A40s, Turtle Beach, or Tritton, try turning the Voice Volume down in-game by going to Guide Button > scroll all the way right > Preferences > Volume > and turn down the Voice to around 3 or 4, and adjust your headsets’ personal voice volume accordingly. There is a bit of a “short” in the circuitry when using a headset with the wired MS controllers that cause joysticks to turn slow, or to actually bounce around a little when loud noises come through the mic.

Buy a new controller.

If you’re using a wired Microsoft controller that is where the problem is. Your controller has a problem that many default wired controllers have and that is something called “slow turn.”

To solve the problem you can either buy a new controller and hope it doesn’t have the same problem or fix it yourself. There are places that sell “no slow” controllers but they are usually at an inflated price. It is much easier, in my opinion, to just fix the controller that you already have.

To start, you need to get some sandpaper. One needs to be a low grit and the other should be a really high grit (one rough and one smooth.) Next take your controller apart using either a torx or phillips head screwdriver (torx for wireless and phillips for wired.) Then sand around the joystick’s circle with the rough sandpaper to remove some of the plastic. Keep doing this and testing the controller for the slow turn until you don’t notice any. There is an app on the xbox called the Controller Doctor that will test the slow turn for you. Once you get it sanded enough, switch to the smooth sandpaper to even out all the rough edges. Finally, put your controller back together.

Wired controllers seem to get this problem very often and it has to do with a difference in the way the parts of the controller set in the housing compared to the wireless since they use the same face plates.

Thanks guys, I have a wireless controller and have had the same one for just over 2 years now. I don’t have the money to buy a fancy pantsy MLG or Razer one, seeing as I’m 15 and don’t have a job yet :stuck_out_tongue: Guess I’ll either just bare with it or buy a new one sometime in the near future. Seeing as it only happens occasionally, I think I can bare with it till the next Xbox comes out
Also, the person that said drive a hog for 10 minutes…I’ve done that more than once when I get bored half way through making a forge map
