Slipspace to continue as Halo's primary engine for future titles

Spaces in the link so that it can be posted.

I can’t imagine being a particular rumor spreading individual now.

Anyway, I’m very glad this is the case.

Why? After the mess Infinite is, this is a terrible info, better switch to IDtech7, UE5 or whatever any of the MS’ acquired studios use, something that’s already proven to actually work, while also looking and performing well. Especially something that jas proper controls and netcode.

Awesome news.

Ironing out the kinks has been frustrating. But going forward it will hopefully prove fruitful. Particularly from the aspect of Forge etc.

Because Slipspace is more than its bugs, but I don’t expect you to understand that. Do you know how complicated writing code is?

You can’t just copy and paste code from one game to the next. Do you know that? It doesn’t work like that. Even if the engines use the same coding language, it still isn’t that simple.

You just do not understand.

I’d rather have Halo use Slipspace than the atrocious Gamebryo engine that Bethesda uses.
That being said, yes, there would probably be some better options as well…

I don’t understand the love for this announcement. If Infinite was in a good state now it would make sense but there’s still so much work to be done.

343i are obviously confident they will get it sorted, in order to make this sort of announcement, but I don’t share their optimism just yet. I certainly hope they are right.

Mind you the link doesn’t work for me so I’m not sure exactly what they’ve said. If it’s just says that the next game will be on SlipSpace, that’s not such a surprise since I think it’s likely to be Infinite 2.0: the relaunch.

The link works, you need to remove the spaces.

All I know is that a year plus in, Infinite still plays like garbage with melee reg, hit reg, collision reg all abysmal on a game to game basis. If Slipspace means more of that, count me out. Stick with an engine that actually produces a working game.

I did, it still wouldn’t work. Probably just a issue on my end or maybe it’s a regional thing if it works for others.

Weird. Well, it’s just a confirmation anyway.

Things have gotten rough on MCC too, I think. It’s MS’ servers.

I guess. Regardless of preference on multiplayer features and style, from a connection and function standpoint 4 and 5 ran like a dream for most of their lifecycles. Not sure why it seems Infinite will never reach a well-working state.

They were on Blam not SlipSpace. I know SlipSpace is only an update of Blam but 343i felt it was a big enough update to warrant a new name, so who knows exactly what was changed.

Good. I hope this means Halo Infinite will be replaced sooner than later.

Bad. By the time the engine is in working order, it will be far behind the competition.

Think I’ll stick to MCC and H5 if that’s the case. Slipspace engine is god awful.

The linkedin itself has nothing on “using the engine for future titles”.

It just says “Real time lighting for narrative and cinematics utilizing 343’s proprietary Slipspace engine.”

Funnily enough “Halo Leaks@leaks_infinite)” is asking the same question in the comments.

I can’t imagine being a particular rumor spreading individual now.

edit:
Aside from this they’re mentioning Jez Cordon in the tweet, who I assume is an important person regarding Halo because of this.

HaloHub comments in the tweet that they “debunked Tatanka running on Unreal Engine 5 a long time ago” in february. To which Jez Cordon responds with “February was a long time ago”.

He could just be talking about how far they’ve come since February or he could mean something else, but the fact that he’s being so vague here could mean something since he’s not denying it.

Unlike this random person tweeting out “The next Halo games are confirmed to run Slipspace because the lighting guy on LinkedIn says he’s working with the proprietary slipspace engine”.

This is an engine 343 couldn’t add additional playlists asap in 2021, what a joke. It’s customized a lot for Forge but not good for others. Just make Forge independent, 98% of us aren’t Forger.

we need to use slipspace engine more and iron out more bugs and figure out which features need to be improved upon and what areas are lacking for future development.

while i am thrilled to have access to halo 3 sapien and guerilla to play around in, it seems to me that forge in halo infinite is much more powerful than it is letting on to be. like, under the surface, slipspace engine’s improvements enable really awesome mind blowing features that would otherwise be a nightmare to implement in less organized refined physics engines

i want to make a needler grenade but its just too confusing in halo 3 sapien. forge is wonderful and i have learned a lot about scripting using the node brower and i can only hope that we begin to see more event nodes and different choices and options for the node browser in the future.

hopefully like the weapon projectile combinations is easily implemented in forge, a similar way to swap projectiles and lighting fx for grenades will be on the horizon. i also want to forge and fly a longsword and banshee in VR

i also would like to see more flexibility in parameters being adjusted in object properties for objects being set to the dynamic type. like right now we cant scale dynamic objects. but there were giant spartans walking around behemoth before public forge was released?

You realize you can’t just copy and paste from one engine to the other, right?

Well, if this is true this is pretty disappointing. While is it true you can’t just “Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V” to a new engine, MS/Xbox have the recourses to build Halo on another engine. If a hand full of hobbyist can replicate Halo on UE4 and UE5, It’s a normal 9 to 5 for MS/Xbox.

Personally, I’d love to see Halo built on iD Tech. I still think Phil hinted this is a possibility.

i have a bad feeling about this more that there not have learn from halo infinite at all.

if there going to use the same game engine there now use in halo inifnite now then its not going to do anything good at all.

so far the game enige in halo infinite has make things more worse and doing notting good at all.
this is more a doom sign for the future halo titels then restore things that have gone wrong in halo infinite.
