Sliding has to be the worst thing added into halo, why you may ask? Sliding in Any game is irrelevant and never used and overall is pointless to have in halo. Tell me the last time you used sliding in combat in any game. Its the most gimmicky thing ever. The only time I ever use sliding is when there is no danger around.
I do understand that sliding can be helpful in certain situations but thats it, its a very situational ability that just clutters the controller. Controller clutter has been a problem I heard with all the new abilities so can we remove this useless one? What do you think about sliding?
Irrelevant in any game? Doesn’t sound like you’ve played Destiny PvP using a shotgun.
And I don’t see how it clutters the controller. There’s a button to sprint, there’s a button to crouch. You’re running, you hit the “crouch” button, you go into a slide. It’s not like it’s removing one feature to make room on the controller for sliding to have it’s own button to initiate.
How does it clutter the controller when its a contextual option for the crouch button? Furthermore how the hell is being situational a bad thing? What would you prefer, mandatory sliding for scenarios?
OP, you are quite apparently whining for the sake of it.

Key word on why this is irrelevant- Destiny
Shotgun was overused in that game to death considering you could spawn with one.
I still feel sliding is not needed in most fps, in halo its not like everyone spawns with a shotgun. The controller clutter thing was just something I heard people who got to play the beta complained about.

Im not trying to sound like a whining child, I just don’t really think its needed as an option in my opinion . I don’t see many people ever use sliding so I question why its an option. Again I heard people thought the controller was a little cluttered, trying to find the source.

Not needed, but that’s a very different argument from BAD. There’s plenty of things that aren’t needed for FPS’s. Jumping for one. Melee, grenades, vehicles, campaign narratives, multiple gametypes, multiple maps, and more than the minimum graphics to recognize the difference between a target and a wall for others.
That said all those unnecessary options add depth to the game. When going on the offensive you could charge, you could just shoot, or you could duck down. Depends on the situation. This intuitive multiplicity of combat is exactly what makes shooters better (see. guns, grenades, melee over a decade ago) and though you could argue on the grounds of absolute economy that we could do without them (after all, all you really need for a shooter is one gun and something to shoot it at) its an incredibly simple argument to make and one that doesn’t approach the problem of how do we make shooters better/more competitive/more fun to play. Its just bureaucratic nit picking, to put it very generously.

Read what you just posted. In order for sliding to be worthwhile it must be used often? What kind of game are you envisioning here?

When would sliding help you personally? What im trying to say is that its not used even when it is a feature most of the time so why have it ,besides the reason for having it there? Don’t get me wrong I love options, but this one seems useless to me personally.

Nitpicking will only get your argument so far.
For starters, Destiny is not designed to be balanced nor competitive. So your argument that being able to spawn with a shotgun and that it was overused is irrelevant. Fact of the matter is, sliding into a shot with a shotgun in Destiny is efficient and a legitimate tactic.
Sliding is in Halo 5: Guardians. Sliding into a shotgun shot is just one example of how it is an efficient and useful tactic. Sliding into cover is also another useful tactic. Taking cover from enemy fire is always useful. Getting into cover efficiently (sliding) is more so.
Fact is, though, we don’t know what other uses sliding in Halo 5: Guardians might have. We might be able to slide and shoot with weapons other than the shotgun. It’s just another way to kill.

Don’t agree on destiny shotguns still, because in halo not everyone has a shotgun all the time. But you do have a point on how we don’t know all the uses yet, But if its like every other normal slide I don’t think its needed imo.
There’s some questions that should be asked before knowing how useful sliding could be.
Can you shoot while sliding or only during it’s ending animation frames?
How far goes it travel? And how quickly?
How deep into sprint do you have to be in order to slide?
Does your head hitbox change accurately enough?
We won’t really know to these and possibly more questions until they answer us or we test it in the beta.
Sliding seems like a very fancy way to just use evade

When I want to make my face translocate by a few feet when charging someone with a weapon that’ll make short work of said face if I leave it in place. Sliding is like crouching but while moving. Its really quite that simple.

I though thrusters was a fancy evade, and if elites are playable I hope they get evade instead of thrusters.

Fair point.
