Slide Boosting - Re-add It.

Even if not to matchmaking, add it as an option on customs.
Come on 343!

Why?
Re-add it to customs.
The game, to me, feel wrong without slide boosting.
I understand it being remove from matchmaking (blue base to sniper on plaza)
But why all together?
It’s one of those “glitches” (as you called it) which just becomes part of the game.
It became a genuine tactic.
It’s like…taking away Slide, Jump, Boost calling it an exploit.
Add it as a custom game option to be able to be in the game.

Yeah that’s just stupid, especially when most of the community don’t even know about it. A glitch is a glitch, end of story, what made H2 extremely annoying at times were the button glitches which gave an insane advantage to the player who knew them against the player who didn’t.
There already are numerous annoying aspects in the game, we don’t need glitches to make it even more annoying.

Nope it should stay gone. It broke a lot of maps and was never an intended movement mechanic.

Not that simple. It was an unintended glitch in the game, something that wasn’t supposed ot happen. To bring it to customs only means they would have to turn that glitch into a supported feature. Making bugs into features generally isn’t something you want to do (ever), always scope to introduce more unintended glitches

wait is this part of the update? that was a faster way to get around the map was by run-slide-trust. i actually considered that competitive because fastest person at the start of the game could get to good positions before the enemy. i didnt consider that an exploit, that felt like part of the game. remember how difficult this game was on on just the moderately hard modes but this game was a challenge, power sliding was everything.

So glad that garbage is gone from the game. This is Halo, not Sunset Overdrive.

well thats the fault of asymmetrical maps it doesnt matter about speed. think of it like this, you move at say 10mph and so does your enemy, or you are able to move at 25mph and so can your enemy. if you both can move at the same speed, its just who is faster at the controller just happens to do better. an asymmetrical map is an asymmetrical map. for example BTB entombed has a wraith and its asymmetrical. so it doesnt matter if you had power slide or not, one team has spawn closer too it so they always get it.

So that person who isn’t aware of the exploit is now at a disadvantage, how is that fair?

Well first of all it was a glitch… gives some players a huge advantage of getting across maps too easily.

That is a textbook example of non-competitiveness within a “sport.”

Is it a skill? Can concede, yes, technically it takes skill to perform the bug. But it’s not a positive gameplay skill, it’s a negative one.

What is the result?
If the opponent fails the bug attempt, doesn’t know about it or doesn’t have the symmetrical chance due to spawning locations and/or asymmetrically built maps, the powerweapon/ability/position is taken without contest and therefore the gunplay (the core of the game) isn’t used.

On the very high level of gameplay where “they never fail,” the players are playing maps with a completely different metagame than everyone not playing “competitively.”

Which means, all that time to create maps based with the known Spartan Abilities becomes just a superfluous base-layer for Power Sliding to discover imbalances of pathfinding and proper weapon/position contesting on the “next level of play.”

Which of course, is against a pillar of their MP design… I only know 1 pillar “The team is your weapon.” But one can infer other pillars, such as “Consistent gameplay across all levels” is another one.

so because someone doesnt know you can run, slide than trust is suppose to be catered too if all he does it run n thrust?
