Been playing more Slayer recently (over Warzone for loss streaks) and wanting to gather some opinions on a couple of weapons I’d see as rivals.
I’m talking about their place on a specific map; Truth - Truth | Halo Alpha | Fandom . I’m never able to tell which gun is prioritized more, the BR or the Carbine. From your experience, which is the better weapon for 1v1 engagements? (My thoughts is that it’s personal preference) but is one genuinely better than the other objectively?
I’d pick the Carbine any day because the BR has been utterly useless after the weapon tuning updates. There is no random behavior with the Carbine and I believe it has a lower TTK. The only potential downside is that you have to pull the trigger more times to get a kill.

I’ve been pretty out of the loop on Halo 5 updates (or gameplay at all for that matter) How hard did they nerf the BR? It does feel a little underpowered now that you mention it…

I don’t know the exact numbers, but, qualitatively speaking, the red reticle range was drastically reduced, recoil was added, there was more time added between each bullet of the burst of 3, and I believe the rate of fire (ie, how quickly you could fire your next burst of 3) was reduced as well. All that has made the BR mathematically worse than every precision weapon (including the Magnum) and has made it feel like an imprecise burden rather than the go-to workhorse it used to be.

That’s a real shame man, thanks for the detailed replies! I appreciate a bit of insight from other players.

Sure thing! I can’t say I play Ranked a whole lot, so your strategies might vary a bit. But, hopefully it helps you out at least a bit
I personally found my performance to be drastically worse when using the H5BR (even in Firefight) so I chose to ignore it entirely.
The carbine wins in most situations! The BR however, if up close, can be a two shot beatdown weapon. However, if you wanna win more fights consistently, use the carbine. The BR has broken spread compared to every other precision weapon.

You can find more information here.I agree with tuhin94. After the update, it seems the magnum is a better choice over the BR, which I think is a real shame.
