Skulls, so many skulls

Should Halo 4 have the same skulls as Reach, 3, and ODST. Or should they be new like the skulls in Combat Evolved Anniversery. Sholud you start the game with all of them or go find them in the campgain missions? Should they be completely new skulls made special and new for Halo 4?

How about custom skulls?
E.g. 2000% gravity, 300% explosive effect, 500% weapon damage, 200% movement speed.

Wouldn’t that be awesome?!!!

I like to find the skulls in the maps, its very halo feeling for these easter eggs to be thrown in

I’m excited to see what skulls they will have. Hopefully some cool new ones!

I like the idea of custom skulls but so as to keep everyone happy why not have it so that you need to find certain skulls to change different aspects of a custom skulls?

Would be nice to not only have skulls scattered throughout the levels of the campaign (even multiplayer), but for to also be more skulls with a wide variety of effects. It’s very halo to find them yourself. The LASO challenge would be so crazy.

Halo 3 style

> Halo 3 style

Bring back all skulls from 3, ODST, Reach and Anniversary and add new ones. Have some of the old ones automatically unlocked but have the rest scattered through the game.

There should be a skull that turns the Grunts faces into people like -Yoink!-, -Yoink!-, Obama, Clinton, Bush, Jebus…

I want them to be like Halo 3. I also want Custom Skulls. If not, I’d like Halo 2’s Sputnik skull. :frowning:

Let’s not steer this topic into political or religious waters please. Thank you

Ok I want a mix of halo 2 and halo 3 style of obtaining skulls.

  1. They should only be found on legendary difficulty. Maybe one or two should be on other difficulties, but really they should be accessible only to legendary players. -Halo 2

  2. Once obtained you should be able to turn them on and off in a menu before a level start. -Halo 3

  3. Skulls should always load into levels even after you have already found them, and picking them up should activate them whether or not you selected them in the starting menu. -Halo 2, Halo 3

  4. There should be a large variety of new and unique skulls. At least one in every campaign level. Maybe two in every level.

that’s about it thanks for reading.

The Hunt:

Mix of H2/H3.

H2 skulls were punishing to get but they felt like accomplishments in themselves + encouraged playing through the level.

H3 skulls on the other hand were just something I just wanted to get over with. If anything, I would have preferred to get them on Easy because a lot of the levels in H3 were a major disappointment to me. A simple detour or an obnoxious challenge (jumping through rings to get IWHBYD) just doesn’t feel rewarding.

I propose changing the minimum required difficulty to Heroic, placing skulls in places that take skill to reach (CE had numerous places that the skulls could have been and they could have instigated great nostalgia. AotCR: first early Banshee, 343 Guilty Spark: just about anywhere in the facility, Keyes: the other side of the gap), and setting guards and easter egg characters nearby (a la H2), only this time they would actually have AI. Wouldn’t it be amusing to have an unarmed Elite following you around? Or a pair of Hunters that can’t damage you with their melee?

The Effects:

I liked CEA’s approach but 1) skulls that have only advantages need disadvantages and 2) shouldn’t take away from combat.

A skull with no disadvantage was Bandanna.
A skull that took away one of the most important things I loved about CE was Foreign.

Bandanna could have just been infinite ammo (not affecting grenades). I mean, infinite ammo already exists in H2, H3, and Reach by swapping a weapon with an emptied clip with an ally. And in CE, you just have to drop a weapon that had it’s clip emptied and wait before picking it up again.

Foreign could have been major boosts to the Covie weapons while “shelving” some other aspects. I’d prefer an exchange of capability or function as long as it’s not like in Reach.

But most importantly, I would like to see more fun skulls. Difficulty skulls have been getting all the attention. There was a time where I would play H3 with such skulls on. Now I despise most of them and play only with silver skulls. The immersion was much more improved without gold skulls.
