I don’t know already if there are threads on this or not but we sort of have confirmation on skulls in Halo CEA.
In the news on this site they are telling everyone the preorder bonuses and one of them is a skull for the game so my one request please 343 hide the skulls again please! anyone else agree?
Agreed. I would love to find all the skulls without any help from youtube tutorials and such. It would really add to the exploring aspect in Halo CE that I loved 10 years ago.
Yep. Skull in the warthog run is absolutely necessary.
yes, but make some hard to get like zelots guarding them or somthing
From the pre-order bonus, it seems that skulls will be another additional feature. They added the new one, “Grunt Funeral”, do you think it is likely that they will add the skulls from Reach / Halo 3? And how many more new skulls will they add?
i hope so, it would mean more secrets so I would be happy
I sincerely hope so, I desperately want to tackle the game that started it all on Mythic.
They are working within the confines of the original game, so there is the possibility that we may not see the skulls we are used to. However, I’m looking forward to seeing what skulls appear, and what 343 can conjure up.
> And how many more new skulls will they add?
They will add all of the following. My source is my own butt from where I am pulling these, but they just the sort of thing Halo CEA needs and it would thus be a crime to deny them.
Ahem…
Gunslinger
All players spawn with pistols, with weapon pick up disabled. The pistol round is also replaced by a plasma grenade with a straight-line trajectory.
Squid Turkey Surprise
1/20 flood infection forms detonates with a fragmentary explosion.
Sputnik
All physics interactions are tremendously enhanced. None of that cowbell “oh, look at the corpse go a little further” nonsense but sending warthogs into orbit genius.
The Bouncy Castle Next to Fun Town
Rockets, grenades, and tank shells rebound until impacting a player, vehicle, friendly, or enemy.
They better be easter eggs again, once we find we’ll just toggle them from the menu.
Oh lord, the last two suggested skulls sound AMAZING! I’ll be a sad panda if there’s nothing like them in it…
I want a new class of skulls: Platinum (Gray white) or Palladium (Silver white)
So we have silver skulls. Those are the fun stuff.
Gold skulls. Those are the difficulty stuff.
Now we need AI skulls with the aforementioned coloration.
The AI skulls should make them more intelligent (but not near omniscient, not Armory skull).
First things first, read this article: http://aigamedev.com/open/reviews/halo-ai/
Now here’s some AI skulls I propose:
Firing patterns adjuster - AI fire faster when they need to retreat. AI fire in short bursts medium range. AI fire auto when close range. Something like that.
Independent thinking - AI depend less on prerequisites (i.e. there must be 3 enemies in order to throw a grenade, throw a grenade when shot at) and can break out of scripted encounters (enemies that would normally die by a rocket now attempt to evade it).

That… would be COMPLETELY EPICLY AWESOME! I would love those skulls! I’d like to see warthogs go into orbit. Keyes: Cortana, what excatly am I looking at. Cortana: That, is a warthog. Blown into space by a skull someone activated in the campaign.

Oh…my…God Imagine having all 3 on at once with Grunt Funeral, and Grunt Birthday Party on
TOO MUCH AWESOME TO HANDLE Dies
Sputnik… those were the days in good old halo 2.
Thats what the need more skulls for, fun and crazy! and not just making the game harder and score multipliers.
I know there is going to be terminals, but skulls would be wicked.
One of the many reasons that Reach’s campaign was incredibly boring was the lack of skullage.
