Skulls for playing CE faster

Has anyone have experience speedrunning CE with skulls? Like most speedrunners, I usually prefer to play vanilla. But MCC has some interesting possibilities for another category of speedrunning with skulls.

question is: which skulls? All of them seem to have benefits and drawbacks.

boom - this sounds very useful in earlier levels, but could also seriously push you off course. Sounds like hell in later flood levels.

bandana - seems to only be of benefit. Not sure it actually has any potential for speed increases but reduces RNG when low on grenades. Could also always skip the armory at the end of the maw.

Black eye - hmm, being able to instantly bring your shields back up seems like it could add some speed some places but not having them recharge on their own may make parts way harder :confused:

Grunt birthday party - obviously on for fun. Actually, having extra feedback confirming you killed a grunt might be helpful in some firefights.

grunt funeral - any thoughts? I feel like I’d end up having to wait for explosions rather than speeding up combat but places like T&R fights will go faster.

Anger and that’s just wrong - both should make enemies come to you faster, which should increase combat speed, but that then makes black eye more dangerous.

tough luck - should make luring an elite to the door after the belly room fight much more consistent and faster.

Sputnik - should allow for some bigger grenade jumps and speed boost, but is there any place that’s actually useful? Usually really but jumps break triggers. It’ll also really push you off course from any random force.

also, any change to the AI makes stealing the banshee in AOTCR impossible.

anyone have thoughts on speedrunning the whole game with any skulls necessary to go as fast as possible? Have you done it and learned anything that’s be useful to me.
