Skulls are essentially pointless!!!!

So I’ve spent the most part of a day playing through campaign and finding all the skulls in Halo 5 only to find that I receive no reward at all except an achievement! Now I’m left disappointed and annoyed at the lack of reward the game provides.

used to be that just finding them was the reward…

then Xbox 360 added achievements.

You get to use them in-game, what more were you hoping for than an Achievement? Armour by any chance?

Smells like Destiny player in here…

“My game should pay ME to play it!”

Ya I don’t remember gaining anything other than achievements and the ability to use them in any of the others, well other than the satisfaction of headshots thanks to grunt birthday.

I would have been your daddy.

Sadly it’s all unlocked thru REQ packs and I kinda wish they had more “Fun” skulls like bandanna.

Yeah, would have been nice to get some armor, or an emblem. That being said, I’m just a completionist and will get them irrespective of any DLC.

Is there a place on Waypoint to view unlocked skulls and what they do? Or can i only view in game? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

The campaign provided very little as far as rewards go.

I thought the reward was the hunt…I just liked collecting them in the originals, well there’s always gamerscore for collecting them.

I miss the bandanna skull. That thing is a reward in itself.

All I can think of is H:CE but did they ever give you anything special (besides the usual effect).

What cant get my head around is the fact that in halo 3 we got all the skulls plus the legendary ending and armour peaces. But with this hallow shell of a game that first off is a lie “the greatest hunt in video game history” the story is short and pointless, no emotional ties to chief or cortana the main characters in the franchise. We get to play hours to get these achievements but no in-game reward? Sounds like the fun was sucked out when 343 took over. Bungie really connected with fans and had so much content in halo 3 such as fordge and file share, videos, machinima and other wonderful things that made halo 3 a cornerstone of of this franchise. But to suck this game dry is a damn shame…i bought the title, i bought the idea of halo 5 i didint buy a epic sequel to a universe that i like to dive into and get lost in its animation and dramatic story that has pulled me in for over a decade. To some this is just another game and thats okay but to some others we have invested time, money, emotion and above all love for a game that 343 industries killed and made it into soemthing none other then a clone of call of duty. Epic fail on the story and way to over market this false advertisement of “hunt for the truth” with one sad cat fight between loc and chief. The only truth i found was disappointing at most and it wasnt even hiding. Nice going 343 industries you ruined a legacy.

Collect all the skulls, you “unlock” the ability to tackle LASO

My gamerscore won’t be unlocking Halo 5 armors any time soon…

The first two Halo games didn’t have armor customization. There was never anything else to unlock besides easter eggs or skulls themselves, so nobody had a reason to complain (If I recall though, beating the Campaign in H2 unlocked Foundation for me…)

Nailed it. Especially the ‘clone of cod’ line, well said.

REQ system ruined that. I don’t like it either but that’s the way it is.
The REQ system is okay for everything except armor in my opinion. There should be some armor pieces that you get from collecting skulls or beating the game on legendary or performing challenges such as the vidoc achievements from H3.

I’m just waiting for Campaign Scoring to be added to Halo 5 so the skulls will be useful again. Imagine fighting Warden Eternals with Mythic, Thunderstorm, Blind, and Iron skulls enabled–20,000 points or bust!
