Ok before you got like, “They weren’t in halo 1-3” “They weren’t in any book” “They were all killed on reach” “They were in reach there fore = gimmicky” Like little kids who learned a there ABC’s hear me out.
Skirmishers weren’t wiped out on reach. they simply quit the covenant. And yes they can do this. They were just hired mercenary’s just like the jackals. If they felt the pay wasn’t right or they were being scammed they could leave.
That explains why they arnt in halos 1-3 and why they arnt any where else. because they are just mercenary’s.
Also they wernt gimmicky in the slightest. They were a new enemy that we had to use a different tactic on manly because they actually could dodge and still shoot at you unlike all other halo bad guys who leap out the way but leave them selves open. This made them deadly and something to watch out for.
Now, Its already been announced that the covie aliens will return in halo 4, But I highly doubt all of them. So who will return. I say the jackals and skirmishers sould be the first. Why? because after leaving the covenant with no one paying them they went back to their old way of pirating. This makes them the most likely to find Chief just by floating in space looking for booty. Now this thread is about the skirmisher. I believe they sould return more badass then before. How and why? Well Skirmishers are far stronger then jackals in every way. So it wouldnt be to hard to believe they challenged the jackals and won. Their prize leader ship over the jackals. This would give them more power, Better armor, and just be all around funner to kill. How the New skirmisher SHOULD look
Woah, I thought skirmishers were jackals. I liked them, the shielded ones were tricky to kill because they would cover their faces with their mini-shields. They were also pretty quick, so sometimes it would still take two bullets to kill one with a headshot.
If they were to return in some form, I think they could be improved by removing their flinch when struck. It would make them much more difficult to shoot. Especially since the battle rifle will make it much easier to get these headshots.
I hate those little -Yoinks!-. The only reason I believe they were put into Reach was just to piss you off. Seriously, they serve no purpose. Grunts are the weakest infantry, and I guess on a higher difficulty they can overrun you in their numbers, but other wise they are no big deal. Jackals were basically better foot soldiers than the Grunts as they were stronger, but nevertheless they were still pretty easy to beat. Elites and Brutes were the main backbone of the covenant forces, that is pretty self explanatory. Hunters were the special heavy weapons sort of forces, and drones were there to be grunts in the air. Skirmishers were just bullet sponge versions of Jackals who could jump 100 feet into the air and dodge EVERYTHING you throw at them.

I HATE THOSE DAMN THINGS!!! I swear they keep blocking my shots even if it’s far from their shields. Jakcals and Skirmishers god I hate those things >_<

And they wernt stopped because they were just guns for hire
I preferred Drones, to be honest. With Drones, fights became dramatically different; where you would normally need to keep track of the enemies around you, you suddenly had to keep an eye out for those above you. They were heavily armed, but they could quickly swarm you. I would really like there to be some kind of encounter in Halo 4 where you’re being chased by drones and you must keep moving in order to survive.
Skirmishers, on the other hand, were just annoying. They were ridiculously fast, were armed a little more heavily, and were tougher than Drones. They weren’t different to fight, you just had to headshot them before too many got in your face.
