Skirmish AI difficulty glitch

Hey all (sorry for the long post),

So I’m not sure if I’m the only one that’s experienced this, but I feel the difficulty on the AI in Skirmish mode may be “glitched” based on observing the AI’s behavior. For example (and this only happens intermittently, not all the time), I would have the AI (just one) set on Easy difficulty in Deathmatch game type. It’s happened against various Banished leaders (haven’t tried it on UNSC leaders). Even though I’m supposedly fighting against an Easy AI, their behavior suggests otherwise. They create quite a bit of rush units at first, along with creating as many bases and other units as possible. They also seem create cloaking towers and shield generators, advanced units, use more leader powers, and seem much more aggressive. It’s better that I have it on video rather than explain it on here.

To me, it appears that their behavior seems to be more along the lines of Normal or maybe even Heroic difficulty. When playing against an Easy AI on Skirmish that isn’t glitched, I can tell a drastic difference in game play and behavior. They’re more casual, less aggressive, and don’t create advanced units or buildings, and rarely ever use leader abilities. I possibly activate this “glitch” when I first start up the game (physical disc, Xbox One version), set up a Skirmish game with Deathmatch, select a random Banished leader as the enemy on Easy difficulty, and play the match against them and win. Afterwards, I’d do the exact same thing again, and play the match. While this doesn’t seem to happen every single time, it happens enough for me to notice. Despite me selecting Easy difficulty, their behavior is drastically different and seems more like Normal or maybe Heroic. I’ve played Skirmish mode against different Banished leaders in different difficulty levels, and know what Easy should be.

The AI is capable of using many different strategies at the start of the game. I believe one is just chosen at random. I forget the names of each, but there is an agressive rush one and also a passive tech up one. I am not sure if certain strategies are suppose to be limited to certain difficulties.

It is very possible that certain opening strategies for the AI are harder to deal with than others based on the AI’s leader and the map .

I played a few more games and I’m very certain the Easy AI is not really Easy, and instead playing against me as Normal or Heroic. This applies to both opening rushes and continuous play.

Yeah, I’ve put 2 legendary AI against 2 normal AI before and seen the normal AI be making T3 units, structures and buildings, while the legendary AI are still making T1 units and barely doing anything. The idea legendary AI can be outplayed and lose to normal AI just seems weird.
