I don’t care how many threads there are, ranks aren’t going down without a fight.
Every game of Reach I play is lopsided, It’s rare I go negative or even die at all. Nobody plays to win, guests roam free shooting their teammates, you’ll likely only hear “Gained the lead” once per match. It’s boring, me and any buddy of my choice can enter doubles and win all day. It’s no fun there’s no incentive to keep winning we’ll always end up getting bored and playing battlefield or halo 3. I’ve seen more competitive games of tag played by six year olds.
I played two games of level 43 team slayer in halo 3 before making this thread. Game one was intense the lead constantly changed changed hands, I had to think about my next few moves, rush to help my team and make sure we kept the power weapons. That game ended 50-48 with the other team taking victory (my teammate went neg 11) I had more fun playing this match than any game of halo reach by a long shot, and I lost!
Game two was against two 50’s! My team started off down seven kills (8-1)we fought back and tied it when we reached the 20’s once again the lead was constantly changing hands up until our team was down 43-40 we brought it back 49-47 while they responded with a double kill making it 49-49! The teams stayed to their respective sides, not wanting to lose tensions were high. Each team had one sniper and sought victory, my heart racing and sniper in my hands I jumped up and got a guys head for a 50-49 win!
Let’s imagine the impossible happens and a game of reach got to a 49-49 stalemate. It would end like this: one guy would rush in the enemy teams base because if he dies he’s going to get 700 credits, so why sit back and plan your attack when you’re 8000 credits away from recon and want the game to end?
Visible skill keeps thing interesting, it makes you want to win,to play just one more to get that 10,20,30,35,40,45 and finally 50. It gives you the drive to learn callouts, weapon spawns, enemy spawns and team strategies. When do you hear a callout in a reach TS game? Not very often, if at all.
I’ve tried winning on my own merit but it’s not nearly the same, 95% of the time my team could care less about winning in reach, they wouldn’t hang back during a 49-49, they won’t callout enemies, time weapon spawns, share the power weapons to strengthen the team. They pick up sniper and rockets without a care, rush into the enemy base to end the game faster, they won’t tell you who’s one shot behind you. Ask yourself even if the ranks are there but not visible who’ll care?
Visible ranks encourage so much, it’s a shame I’ll be stuck with XXXsupersniperXXX and his guest shooting me in the back for fun.
