I don’t think you should be penalized if your team mates do terrible and cause you to lose the game when you yourself perform well.
Instead it should be based off performance:
Kills
Deaths
Assists
Score
you should also get a slight boost if you win, and a slight penalty if you lose.
Also, if you quit you should get a HUGE rank penalty
and if you are down a player on your team you should get a boost in experience per player missing and if you have more players on your team then the enemy you should get a penalty.
I agree with both sides. Team Slayer is really about the “Team” But i recently had an above average match with 25 - 6 KD and I lost rank as we lost 46 - 45. I think you should get a victory bonus / loss deduction but also a separate performance bonus as i crushed it but still went down a whole bunch in rank. Might help with those that don’t always have their crew of friends online all the time.
The beta is great and am excited to try the new maps and modes, especially break out. Reminds of of old school counter strike where your death matters
A lot of great ideas in here honestly. The main focus has always been about winning to rank up. I think a lot of this beta testing will be focused around the matchmaking and CSR to see what does and does not work. Halo has always promoted teamwork and tries to prevent camping. But I do agree that if someone is carrying their team, they should not lose quite as much rank as the other players that did very poor or just constantly got killed over and over again.
However, this is much different in objective based game. Players trying to cap the objective or holding the flag should be rewarded greatly. H4 does an excellent job providing points for assists and for players capping or defending objectives. By the end of the beta I am sure they will have this dialed in quite well. The H5 matchmaking is the best I have seen since H2 and H3.
If you are good you will win the majority of the time. Stats don’t really give a good indication on how you played. Halo is a team game and if your team wins your rank should go up if it loses it should go down. Individual performance shouldn’t impact rank one bit.
Thank You that’s my position on this as well…Like a dummy I just wrote a topic about this very same thing and I agree with you on this 100%. Some to most of my games I am getting crap players or begingoners and they go like 1 and 15 or worse, where they just stand there getting killed and I go 32 and 15 or better and get penalized for the defeat. If I am carrying my team most of the tme and get a defeat because my team mates suck, why do I have to suffer my loss of points? People don’t understand if they did ranking like this it would ruin the game. instead of people working as a team players would be playing for their self. Not willing to take a death to help the team take the power weapons. It’s all about winning!
Yes please I would love to sit and camp to get a gd KDR and not even have to bother helping my team out. It wouldn’t matter if we lost i would still rank up because i’m such an awesome non-team player

Exactly. The main focus needs to be around winning. A little percentage toward the other features listed. Otherwise, like you said, people will just camp and worry even more about their KD. So strange seeing people obsessed with KD. Never used to be like that before. People used to focus on winning, not just killing people. Can be a pain in objective based games.
Here we go again. Forums fill with people who spent five minutes thinking about everything they hate about the ranking system, instead of trusting professionals who’ve spent forever and a day creating, testing and implementing the systems we’ve had so far. If they can’t get it right, what makes you think you can?
