Skill gap and aiming excuses

I’m tired of seeing oh the aim raises the skill gap posts. No it really doesn’t if you have a game that has good aim example H2/H3 and even H4 believe it or not probably some of the best crispy aim in the series…. This creates for a well balanced good experience across the board that’s why everyone and there mom goes back to MCC and it shows in the population between that and H5 which has very mediocre aim mechanics… through out all the games you can still have skill based aim no matter what game you’re playing on but the question comes down to do I want to have good aim on a bad aiming game or a good aiming game ? Currently right now infinite is in the bad aiming camp just like H5 and that’s an undisputable fact… and this is contradictory on how skilled you are when it comes to aiming in particular.

A similar analogy would be if you were to decrease the diameter of a basketball hoop now it’s harder to have the ball go through the hoop but everyone is still on the same playing field shooting through the same hoop in this instance it’s just a game with bad aiming mechanics where everyone is struggling with aim like the hoop mentioned…. I would rather be playing on an original default hoop that akin to the likes of HCE-H4 with the exclusion of H5 and infinte as it currently stands… why? Simply because the original titles got butter smooth aim and H5 and infinite do not and there is no debate on that…

Any reason why you have played 3,000 games of Halo 5 and only 1,200 of MCC, if this is the case?

Aiming adjustments need to be made to make it easier for the average player (default settings are poor), however I don’t think aim assist is the answer as it was really high in Halo 4 and that was an awful multiplayer game, still is. Halo 5 also had high aim assist but this was offset by strong Spartan movement options. Halo 5 for me is the best competitive Halo and the most skill based of all the Halo games.

Honestly I always thought Halo 3 had more aim assist than 4. And for what it’s worth halo 4 is probably my favorite Halo multiplayer. I enjoyed 5 as well.

I played more halo 5 on this acct I have another acct don’t worry. I mainly played halo 5 so much to figure out the atrocious aim which I never achieved and came to terms I never will… also I played about 35,000 matches of H3 back in the 360 days 5 star gen on my other acct…

There are different kinds of aim assist and both 4 and 5 utilised high amounts of magnetism meaning if your reticule is red, you hit the target. But the reticle can appear red outside of the player model and the higher the magnetism the larger the area. So essentially you are completely missing shots and they are registered as hits.

It’s why in Halo 4 the skill barrier for aiming is so low.

H3 and H5 is most I’ve played in the entire series and H3 will always be my most played so I definitely am validated for all these aiming posts and I don’t wanna see a repeat of H5 in infinte cuz I’ll be jumping ship and playing MCC for eternity… already uninstalled H5 for the last time and will have it that way for eternity too lol

I really not a fan of h4 multiplayer but for what it’s work the aim is crsipy smooth maybe even more than the OG trilogy… to go from crispy H4 aim to the aim of what we got in H5 the worst by far is beyond me…

I agree with you on that but halo 5 did have heavy aim assist and that’s still doesn’t negate the fact for the bad aim mechanics… which halo 4 and the rest did not have…

You’re too funny. I take it English isn’t your first language.

I could care less if ads is in the game as long as it doesn’t make you more accurate. That was the fault i think that people had with h5 and that i had. It ruined the proper ranges of guns.

I guarantee you never got 7 perfect kills in a dubs match in H5 that shows I have a better aim than you but guess what it doesn’t really matter the game still has bad aim mechanics at the end of the day no matter how you slice it up…

No once again you don’t understand halo and you’re also illogical trust me I know English very well and halo better than you beyond a doubt… also since now we’re bringing up things that aren’t related to halo I also know some Spanish considering I’m half Hispanic anything else you want to say that irrelevant to my topics at hand? Honestly, the way you compose yourself and the structure of this post are off-putting. It’s hard to understand what message you are trying to convey.

Do you want more aim assistance? (reticle stickiness)
Do you want larger hitboxes? (like your basketball analogy)
Do you think aiming itself feels off or janky and unsmooth?
Are you talking about hit registration times?
Is player movement & strafing too fast, making tracking with a controller near impossible despite good levels of reticle stickiness?

Aiming is comprised of many complex components. Personally, with my M&K playtime experience during this flight, I found that aiming felt really smooth at medium to long-range, but I struggled to maintain aim on my targets at close range.

I found that hitboxes felt slightly too small for the fast strafing speed present in H:I. Targets felt difficult to hit when using the BR, Commando, and Sniper.

I also think that zoomed weapons being descoped from across the map is a pain point for the user, as weapons outside of their intended range can descope you and ruin any positional advantage that you may have fought for to strategically set up. I often found enemies closing the gap towards me with ease because of this.

To partially fix Infinites aiming problem, I would slow base movement strafing down by a few %, increase hitbox size for precision weapons, and remove the ability for short-range weapons to descope targets at long-range. There may also be tuning needed for the default aiming settings in the menu, and it would also be nice if we had some named presets for some M&K settings. Lastly I would add more sensitivity range options for controller users, as aiming feels too slow. (1-20 sensitivity should be the standard.)
