Skill falling apart

Skill, maps, and balances are falling apart. Fast. Let me set this up.
I went in to a game of SWAT. Half of my team quit. The other guys were a full party, talking trash. I’m an Eclipse, my teammate was a Nova. These guys were roughly the same.
Sword base (I dislike it). We stomped them, big time. I got 30, my mate 20. I had more kills than their entire team combined.
The sad thing is, this isn’t a one hit wonder. This happens all the time. Noobs talk trash, and think they are good because of their rank. They proceed to get stomped, and blame lag, the map, camping, whatever. You know what? Four guys should be able to overwhelm one camper. Or not, to judge by a few killing frenzy’s.
So, skill is not matching up at all. I play with decent Warrant Officers and lame Novas.

Maps.
Don’t even get me started. Slap a soft kill anywhere hard to get to. Put on a special effect. Slap some cratees over the flow points (Lifts, rooms, low-G areas). Add in some random boxes. And get drunk, then move every piece about 15 degrees out. Soubd familiar? Bedlam. Uncongealed. Parasitic. These sloppily forged, messy, unbalanced maps run rampant. Give me good ol’ Blood Gulch, not a “BTB Heavies” map with nothing in it but 2 Wraiths and a Gravity Hammer.

Spawns.
Seriously, how hard are spawn zones, soft zones, anti’s, and points? Setting up a map’s spawns so that spawn trapping (I call it legit ONLY if you do it on a map that actually has multiple spawns) is impossible, or difficult. Getting spawn trapped is currently solved by having you spawn IN THE ENEMY’S BASE. WHY? That is even worse!

Balances.
Why does 343 feel the need to tweak Reach’s nose every 2 weeks? Reach is it’s OWN balanc of MP. Don’t try to make it Halo anything-else-but-Reach. That is the way it feels, deal with it. AL can block a plasma. The counter? Wait 7.5 seconds, then shoot. Active Camo gets a bonus for crouching and standing still. Guess what? That limits it’s effectiveness. Now you may as well run around jamming radar. Vehicles aren’t bought at Wal-mart.

It has all been said before, but,
TL; DNR:
DEAL WITH IT. Reach is REACH. It is NOT HALO 3. Just let it be what it was meant to be. Stop complaining. Everything has a counter.

Camping with host/bad connection is usually an advantage (albeit a cheap one) I agree that spawns should be fixed- the prisoner map is an example of a very flawed spawn system

Wow, you went through all that effort just to say Deal with it? smh…

please don’t be ignorant … . .

It’s acutally benefical to have less teammates in games like SWAT and Team Snipers. I PRAY to have my teammates quit so I can have a better chance to win.

You realise you’re talking about SWAT here…?

I get that outrageous lopsided scores happen, and that they get a lot of attention from people from people on both sides in this forum.

But I want to see the actual evidence that it’s the consistent problem you say it is.

Otherwise, you’re like those noobs, all talk.

SWAT is one of the few gametypes that it is EASIER to win when you are down players. I used to PRAY my teammates would quit out in H2/H3 Swat.

Outrageous, lopsided scores do happen, especially when I get teamed up with people who don’t know what they are doing. They pretty much ran to the other team to give them kills. Even though the other team had three people (one was killing himself), we still lost because my teammates didn’t know how to play.

I can accept that it occurs, I can even link you games from my my game history that show the same.

But until the global stats are released and it shows that a majority of the games don’t have an acceptable margin of error…

I don’t think this conversation really means much. Outliers stick out. That’s the definition of them. Find me a correlation and we’ll know that there’s a problem. Otherwise, you’re just promoting your latest outlier, which means nothing.

I was with a party of 4 the other day in Super Slayer. Matched 4 randoms. Won 50-0. “Trueskill” at it’s finest…

Back before Objective went 4v4, I forget the exact amount, but we won CTF Slayer with over 80 points.
Then there was a game in Super Slayer where we matched a team 2 or 3 times in a row, and just got spawn trapped before we even got a chance to get to our Sniper.

That’s all well and good, but you could be talking all the outliers that exist.

In the hundreds of thousands of games played a day… Remembering the ONE that was a blow-out isn’t very impressive.

If I’m playing with a team of 4 every game is a blow out. #Trueskill

Right when Team Slayer got TU’d, I got over a 25 win streak, I was searching with a team and just stomping on all the randoms. Uneven games happen way too often to just be outliers.

Besides, it was 88-0, and our fourth wasn’t playing.

Yup,

every game you could think of that is a blow out is an outlier. Show me the global information that says otherwise.

There is no global information spreadsheet that shows this. It is just our experiences. Yes, it happens to everybody, but it seems to happen a lot more often now than what it did in Halo 3. There is a lot more complaining about it in Reach than in Halo 3.

Reach never had any decent balance. Why do you think their tweaks are somehow getting rid of that?

And AL was never counterable. Waiting is a call for inaction, which means the person doing the waiting is forced to pause his engagement all because someone pressed a button, and he can therefore do nothing to prevent Mr. AL from wasting 6 seconds of time for everyone involved. Now, it’s possible to counter armor lock by damaging AL, a feature that it should have had at DAY ONE.

Not ONE of you read past the first paragraph, did you? My issue is not with teammates quitting, or balances, or scores. Read it again. I am taking up an issue with 343’s limited tweaks to Reach’s MP. Let the balance stand as it was intended to. Don’t be ignorant? Really? Most of my games are down to the wire, 49 to 50. I’ve had 51 to 51 before. THAT ISN’T MY POINT. My point is the lack of SKILL MATCHING and other topics. Re-read the entire first post.
