Skill Based Matchmaking

Get rid of Skill Based Matchmaking it makes the game unbearable to always have terrible teammates who i have to carry through ranked I am losing due to kids betraying me going afk and leaving the game. Should not have made multiplayer free because a bunch of dumbasses are all over the servers and its frustrating as hell

This is by far the biggest issue in the game and it’s getting drowned out by all of the noise about the Battle Pass and progression.

The casual playlist should be casual - why is there a ranked playlist if it’s functionally no different other than BR spawns?

This plays into a larger problem generally, which is a complete lack of playlist variety. Coming from MCC, where you can choose exactly what you want to play, when you want to play it, it seems like a huge step down.

This issue needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, or people are going to get burnt out quick.

Hard agree, having played a lot of ranked and a lot of social, the social games have some managed to be significantly more sweaty and unbalanced than the ranked games and it makes zero sense. The casual mode needs to have the loosest sbmm possible, just like old halo. If people have complaints about that, just grow up and stop being afraid of imaginary points and play ranked. Casual = sometimes great enemy players, sometimes grannies and everything in between, ranked = playing a game with 9 other players that are basically clones of yourself.

That’s the mis-conception. That ā€˜random’ gives you some good opponents and some bad opponents.

But if you are on the tails of the skill curve (normal distribution) - random is anything but.

For an Onyx player (MMR 1500) - ā€˜random’ means that 98% of your opponents are of lower skill level… at an average of 23 levels (1-50). You will be the ā€˜top dog’ in 9 out of 10 games.

The reverse is opposite for a new/struggling player.

SBMM is essential. I agree that it needs to be loose and more team based in Social. But the point is that random is not the solution.

Halo was the first fps series to use skill based matchmaking, but it was never this strict, which is why I said ā€œThe casual mode needs to have the loosest sbmm possible, just like old halo.ā€ I don’t know why you quoted ā€˜random’ when I never said that. Commonly the bottom percentile of players exist in some form of protected bracket until their mmr is high enough to exist in the common pool. In any case the game shouldn’t be damn near unplayable for my friends because my mmr is too much higher than theirs, wasn’t an issue in release H3/Reach/H4/H5 or MCC but it clearly is in Infinite.

There’s no friendly fire in this game. You can’t be betrayed lmao

Why does every single (NON-RANKED) game have to be a complete sweat? Even the Fiesta event is unbearable. This is the same mistake other games have made. I will play less because I don’t have the mental bandwidth to play competitively ALL THE TIME!!!
