Yea, but every single game of BTB comes down to laser control at the end of the day. It’s why I think the projectile approach of the skewer is more balanced. Still does a ton of damage to vehicles, but having to lead your target some adds a nice balancing mechanic to reward skill.
Valhalla game? Better help your team get the laser, or your team is doomed to go down 20 kills to banshee and wraith chaos with few weapons to fight back.
Sand trap game? Someone better grab your teams laser, or your team is doomed to being circled by hogs for 5+ minutes.
Avalanche game? Rush the laser or you’ve got basically no sure fire way to stop the enemy hornet God covering their wraith.
Standoff game? Better make sure your team gets laser if you don’t want a hog running laps through your base constantly.
And that’s just H3 BTB examples. It was true in H4 and H5 on maps the laser spawned too. It was just far to easy to completely halt all enemy vehicles with very little “cost” to the player using it
iits a mess. atleast the lazer was in the middle of the map. doesnt one side spawn with sniper and another side with skewer in btb? WHO DESIGNED THIS. btb has been frankensteined.

I agree with you.
I think the solution would be to make the tanks more vulnerable to Skewer fire. They dominate. I can put two grenades into a boarded tank and it still doesnt die. They just have too much armor. I think this is the REAL problem
Part of me thinks the community hasn’t really explored the vehicle damage system enough to really understand the intricacies involved.
Like I’m pretty sure you can two shot a Scorpion with the skewer now, you just have to be specific about where you shoot it (I posted my example earlier in this thread).
Essentially it seems to me that the skewer can 1 shot anything the Splaser could if you shoot a weak spot specifically. But it takes one more shot than the Splaser if your hitting somewhere a vehicle would have a lot of armor irl (front, main side). That’s from trying to guage the systems in game, not from testing though
Could be desynch, but I’ve put my fair share of Skewers into Choppers to not believe Choppers are One-shot from a Skewer. Three shots? Yes, but at that I’m leaning towards desynch in those cases. Most consistent for me has been two spears into Choppers, never one shotted one though.
This is kind of a generalization. In what game? On what map? In what game mode?
To my knowledge Splazer is centrally located on Valhalla in Halo 3, maybe Highlands in Reach, but other than that I can’t think of another map where this is the case.
I have no clue, I haven’t played BTB since December.
On what BTB map? I don’t recall maps being too weighted like this, with an exception of Deadlock. But I don’t think one side starts off with such a crazy disparity.
BTB is definitely built around a more dynamic system, but it’s hardly unplayable. I personally enjoy the drop off mechanic that pits players fighting against control of power vehicles (when they actually spawn in).
I understand the allure of traditional big team mechanics, and hope they add it back in.
its playable. just a shame in what it become. havent played in a long time either. i feel like that says something as i used to see arena on par with btb and could hop between both in halo 3. infinites btb nerfed everything so youre right, nothing is THAT unbalancedd with weapons and vehicles. btb is really just 12 infantry vs 12 infantry. Only mode that works well on is total control.
