you know the director of the team, Tom French, is a 343i employee, right
why
why would they want that
come ON rambo
that’s not how it worked. Anything made under the Halo copyright is already protected by the copyright. They don’t have to trademark every new word. So, yeah, it’s very likely it’s called The Endless, as a DLC/Expansion.
Or a book, or anything else
Just cause its a new trademark doesnt mean “NeW dLc 100% cOnFiRmeD!!!”
Its fine to speculate, but actin like its 100% confirmed fact is stupid
I can honestly not come to much of any other conclusion since that is what they have been doing to the franchise from the beginning of their control of it.
Halo 4 was the most un-Halo game in the mainline series and it was designed to be that on purpose (one of the major points of team development of 343 was wanting to get devs who didn’t like Halo. Their goal was supposedly to come up with interesting and fresh ideas. It clearly got out of hand with Call of Halo being H4’s multiplayer among a slew of other drastic and unneeded changes.)
Halo 5 doubled down on it with the deranged art-style shift and the worst narrative in triple-A gaming history, focusing more on what ammounts to Fan-Fiction OCs and not on the actual series protagonist. Imagine playing The Legend of Zelda, but instead of playing Link you played as Tingle’s Cousin? Or a Mario game where you played as a Koopah instead of Mario? Or Portal but instead of playing as Chell, you played as Larry from Accounting? Or Doom but instead of playing Doom Marine, you played as Jeff the Janitor? Or Deus Ex but instead of Adam, you play as some guy named Maxwell?
But with Halo Infinite, even when they tried to get it right; they still somehow screwed up horrendously on execution. Their design plans showed promise, but somewhere along the line everything went all screwy.
Either the dev studio is doing this on purpose, or no one in administration is able to have any foresight to their actions and design choices and say “We are marching towards embarrassment, mistrust, and failure. We need to change course.”
Ironic, considering the new enemy faction that 343 invented are known as Prometheans.
Prometheus was one of the last titans and the embodiment of Forethought. He thought carefully before every choice he made and was even able to see into the future somewhat due to how powerful his insight of forethought was.
Epimetheus however was the Titan of Afterthought. He was a fool who squandered his actions in favor of “spur-of-the-moment” gratification. According to legend, Epimetheus gave all the gifts to the animals; which led to Prometheus making mankind gifted with the stature and mental capacity to emulate the gods; hence why he stole Olympian Fire from Hephaestus. Epimetheus was also the husband to Pandora, a trap that Zeus had laid out; with some tellings having Epimetheus opening Pandora’s Box.
The Prometheans are enemies we fight in Halo 4 and Halo 5.
The Epimetheans however are very real and work at 343 industries; as all their choices seem to be made with no forethought in mind.
Glad to see were of similar minds on this topic, hopefully they will learn and pull through, if they can get some solid leadership and vision behind them, if not its gonna be rough…
That’s fair, though in this case it IS a logical conclusion to make.
Oh my gods this is so unhinged and off base. Fireteam Osiris was nowhere near that bad. What’s more, Adam is the new blood in Deus Ex, not the other way around lmao.
He also gave fire to man, for which he was punished by being strung up for eternity to have his innards eaten by birds and he could never die. So. There’s more to it than that. His foresight or lack thereof, got him killed. Forever. Constantly.
I am hoping when Season 2 drops we get a nice narrative multiplayer trailer. Which I’ll be watching like a hawk for any world building stuff. Like even if they’re stuck on a Frigate in the middle of nowhere.
Co-op will be good. Iam going to drag my mate onto that.
Quite like the Iron Eagle armour so will enjoy grinding for that.
The issue is that Season 2 feels like it’s more like trying to get the base game hopefully sorted out; rather than adding anything mind blowing. For example:
Doesn’t seem to be a new core for the next Battle Pass. Iron Eagle I am guessing is a Fracture Event
Still no word on new maps
It all sounds like a very poor showing for half a year after release.
From what I’ve seen of Forge. Iam glad the objects don’t look like varnish covered blocks so in that sense seems to be a big improvement on Halo 5. If you actually can make a map that visually looks as good as a multiplayer map that would be a step up. Trouble is seems to be a long way out.
I think it’s more that no roadmap has people on edge. Does that mean they’re considering pushing some features back or delaying updates even further? I don’t know. Maybe it’s good news and they shuffle forge into Season 2.
You are missing the reason why he did all of that.
Prometheus shared his wise words with his brother Epimetheus, stating that they should instead assist the Gods in defeating the other Titans.
For their choice in aiding Zeus and the other Gods in their war against their forbearers, Zeus tasked the two with populating the new world with all manner of creatures. Humanity was supposed to be the greatest of these new creatures.
Epimetheus set to work with an unbridled excitement and vigor. He gifted all the amazing gifts to the animals that were to be lesser than Man. He gave Bears raw power, Birds the ability to fly, and Horses great speed.
But then it came time to create man, Epimetheus had spent all the gifts upon the animals.
Man was to be the greatest of the denizens of this newly forged world.
Epimetheus ran to his brother and declared what he had done.
Prometheus, who was forethought incarnate, had spent his time in deep thought of how to craft mankind. Since Epimetheus spent all the gifts on the other creatures, he now had to come up with something that would truly make them the greatest of the dwellers of Earth.
And so, he created Man to be made in the image of the Gods themselves, walking upright with grace and might.
He gave them insight to be wise and intelligent, similar to the Gods and Titans; but not as powerful.
This gifts were not enough to allow Man to contend with the Beasts that possessed all the gifts of power.
And so, to complete Man; Prometheus stole Hephaestus’ Fire to gift to man, allowing them to be further like the Gods, allowing Man to create in a manner similar to the Gods they were modeled after.
But that wasn’t the reason he was tied to a rock with adamantine chains. It was merely his first strike on Zeus’ bad list. The punishment for this was Pandora and her box being gifted to Epimetheus to spite Prometheus. As a way to “nerf” Mankind, the horrors within would be unleashed by Epimetheus’ curiosity and lack of forethought. Though Prometheus warned his brother of the trap, the box would still be opened in time.
As for the reason that Prometheus was chained up and had his liver pecked by birds?
Like what the Kronos did to his father Uranus, and Zeus did to Kronos, so too would Zeus have his throne be usurped by one of his sons. And since Zeus was very promiscuous, he had fathered many… many sons as Demi-Gods. And only Prometheus, with his power of forethought, knew which of Zeus’ sons would be the one to rise up and usurp Zeus’ throne.
And Prometheus was silent. For he knew that it was Mankind’s destiny to do what their forerunners had done before. It was fate that wasn’t meant to be unwoven. And so, Prometheus was tied to a rock with adamantine chains and questioned by Hermes.
Hermes asked Prometheus, begged him to reveal the information. Prometheus refused. And when threatened with an Eagle coming to eat at the black blood of his liver only for it to regrow and repeat daily. His response to this threat being " I would not exchange my own misfortune for your slavery”".
Prometheus was the embodiment of forethought. And the knowledge of knowing that his silence defeated Zeus and would allow Mankind to prosper ever further would indeed have him punished for eternity (until Heracles saved him in one story). Forethought invites patience and understanding of the outcome that will result of your actions. Prometheus wanted Mankind to usurp Zeus as they were supposed to. And so, he accepted his punishment knowing someday the events would come to pass and he would one day be free.
Granted, Fireteam Osiris is made up of a cast of colorful characters. But Brian Reed handled them poorly and the story just comes off as a fanfiction.
“My cool Spartan OCs are super-cool and awesome and look at how cool they are in these bombastic cutscenes. My three OCs are joined by Edward Buck, my favorite character; as they go and hunt down the Master Chief and stop him from going back to his crazy ex-girlfriend as an allegory to how I recently had a bad breakup.”
Halo 5’s Narrative literally is fan-fiction tropes.
New OCs take the lime-light from the main characters, despite it being a dual-narrative story; we only get to see Master Chief for 1/5 of the game. That is because the game isn’t about Master Chief and Blue Team having their own parallel story like the marketing said it would, the story is instead focused on the new characters and their pursuit of Master Chief.
Characters break character, making choices that they normally wouldn’t make in the first place; but he amature writer goes “the plot demands it” and just shoves the characters in that direction.
The previous good guy character that has no reason to be a bad guy is made a bad guy for the sake of “what a twist this is! No one has come up with it before!” Except it is literally the Face-Heel Turn trope, which is rarely executed well. Unlike the Heel-Face Trope, which is where the villain becomes a good guy.
There is a clear hench-man bad guy for you to direct your frustration and hatred at. The Warden Eternal is literally a character who acts random and changes motives. One second he lets Blue Team pass and the next he is opposition. A character of confused writing of simultaneously wanting two characters out of one.
It was originally going to be that way… until Brian Reed did what he always does and ruined it. You would think after a decade of writing critique prior to working at 343, the guy would actually learn a thing or two about writing a compelling narrative with likable story and not angering everyone?
No need to remind me, I suppose it hurts more with Infinite due to the genuine start 4 had, and despite 5’s faults there was a thread narratively we could’ve followed, wasn’t the best of threads but compared to the ST it was better than nothing.
How much fanfiction have you ever read? I mean you’ve clearly read Prequel, that’s… much more parody anyway. (Fun fact, Kazerad and I are very good friends.)
I actually haven’t read Prequel sadly. Though I do know of Katia Managan, hence my profile pic. Plus through memes, I know of plenty of the story through Cultural Osmosis.
But Fanfiction is pretty much just unbridled power-fantasy amature writing. And since there is no editor or oversight above the FF writer, the stories tend to be random and everywhere. Pretty much what I described above. And usually the OCs are based on the writer or the writer’s friends that want to be in the narrative. And like I mentioned previously, the writers often involve their favorite characters into the main-character OC’s party; which is essentially what role Edward Buck is in the team.
Locke is the ONI Operator
Tanaka is a tech specialist
Vale is Sangheili Cultural Specialist
Buck is… Gun number 4 and the inorganic insert of the fan-favorite character because the writer wanted him in the story and didn’t give proper reason for him to be part of the team.
It is an accurate summary of Halo 5 Guardians’ narrative.
Writer of fan-fiction has new original characters that get to pull of scenes more epic than the ones pulled off by the main cast.
Fan-favorite character is part of the team because they want them on the team so they can be with thier favorite character.
Main Franchise Character is sidelined in favor of the OCs.
Cortana is now evil for some reason
The Writer went through a bad breakup so that messy relationship bleeds into their writing, hence why Master Chief and Blue Team mindlessly follow after Cortana after Chief’s Vision that should’ve reasonably been considered a concussion hallucination due to all the stress and the fact that he landed on his head in that cutscene.
Characters act almost nothing like themselves as established in previous works, with Frederic and Vale being the only characters that remained consistent for the most part. Meanwhile Kelly and John seem somewhat distant DESPITE them having the closest bond in Blue Team. However, Linda and John are somehow closer based on a few scenes. Locke acts like cardboard compared to his depiction in Halo Nightfall. Nathan Fillion feels held back by the director for some reason. And Tanaka’s platitudes come off as content that you would find on r/Iam14andthisisdeep.
