Simply, Halo. That’s all it is. Simple, basic and balanced.
Stop trying to play dress-up with Halo and realize what makes Halo, Halo. There is a reason Halo succeeded and why it survived and that is because they got the most important thing right… Gameplay.
Stop adding all this crap that Halo doesn’t need or do us a favor and change the name. Don’t keep Halo on the box art just so that you can sell copies. If you want to create your own game then start from a new IP. Flashy gimmicks just don’t do it for Halo.
edit: We’re talking matchmaking here.
If the only thing you are looking for in a Halo game is the gameplay, you are not a Halo fan. You are a fan of the gameplay. Huge difference.
P.S. Stop posting threads like these, they don’t and won’t change anything. Either accept the changes or don’t buy the game.
Care to say why instead of posting on the 5,000 similar threads like “Why is Halo becoming the next Call of Duty” u decided to make another brain dead thread on this topic?

Doesn’t make any sense. Im not as fickle as you, I don’t buy games for the name. I buy game for the content I expect to be inside the game.

Neither do I. If I didn’t like what is being shown in Halo 4, I wouldn’t buy it. I would rent it and play through the campaign. But since I do like what I’m seeing, I’m going to buy it.
If you don’t like what you are seeing in Halo 4, don’t buy it. 343 is telling us what’s in the game. If you’re expecting something else, you’re an idiot.
The reason why halo ce was so popular was because it was ORIGINAL. How is making halo 4 like the original halos being original? And before you respond with ,“Halo is copying cod and that is not original.” 343 has stated MANY times before, they are in no way copying any other game.
Everyone has an opinion and that’s cool but all these threads and post you make won’t change anything sooo…
And yet, Reach isn’t pulling the numbers Halo used too. Chalk it up to all the useless crap Bungie added to the game but to be honest, i think many players are tired of the old Halo formula. Take away all of Reach’s BS and you still have the same game we’ve been playing for 10 years, just with better netcode. Better known as the win that is MLG ZBNS but not everyone plays MLG due to the sterotypes or skill required to get enjoyment out of it. Thus, only appealing to a niche crowd, not everyone in general.
I am know i am putting myself in a position to get flamed but the formula can’t afford to remain as is. Reach, despite it’s so called “additions” didn’t change a damn thing and alienated players while not giving people who had Halo fatigue a reason to come back. Those that stayed the course? Well…you know how that is. I don’t need to go there.
Halo 4 can either break or make the series. More than that, it can either be more of the same or breath fresh life into the series. Gods know it needs the latter.

I agree with Bananas

Op got something right at least, what made Halo original was the gameplay, it was dead on solid in a way few other console games had been (Golden Eye 64). Halo kept having good gameplay and hence it kept being popular, however the games stagnated and instead of improving on that gameplay, we got more of the same.
Halo needs to have solid gameplay but still be original, and I think 343i are the ones, if any, to be able to pull it off

YOU’RE not fickle.
You’ve made hundreds of topics complaining about every new announcement and you’ve nit-picked to the point that it’s clear that you just want Halo 2 squared.
I’m not going to put words in the guy’s mouth, because honestly I respect his candor, but he appears to not only respect Halo’s gameplay, but the rich, vast universe and mythos and story and interactivity behind it, and he’s accepted the information with an open heart and an open mind, and is annoyed with people who ARE CLEARLY FICKLE.
Follow me on this one. This is where my logic gets tricky.
You think HE’S fickle.
And you think YOU’RE NOT fickle.
Quick question, Outgunnd.
Do you know what fickle means?

Yeah, it’s too bad they decided to get tired somewhere between Halo Reach release and a week after Halo Reach Release.
The number one argument about what’s wrong with Halo is that we’re not changing the franchise enough. However, when the Franchise suddenly introduced this “change” the population died. Yet rather than relate that dip in popularity to Reach, we relate it to time, even if that time happen to fall with Reach.

Halo Ce great game, high population
Halo 2 great game, high population
Halo 3 great game, high population
Halo Reach sucky game, low population
Halo isn’t getting boring, Reach happened

Fine by me lol, I only needed to add a little of my own taste xD.

“Great game/ sucky game” is your opinion. “Great” is subjective when it comes to describing games. You might have thought Halo: Reach was a “sucky game”, others don’t.
Halo didn’t suddenly plummet as soon as Halo: Reach came out. Between Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare happened.
Halo 3 survived through 2 modern warfares
A little change won’t kill you. It’ll still have the same great Halo feel.
> Halo 3 survived through 2 modern warfares
Same can be said for Reach. (Blops and Mw3) I’ve noticed that the pop. has increased in Reach. Arena actually broke in the 5,000 lately, before it was in the hundreds lol.
