Simple Ways H4 News Can Work

Okay, so as most of you have seen, a bunch of info was released about H4. I too, at first, was hesitant to believe they could work. I started with the whole “343i is ruining Halo” and “its just like CoD.” But after I learned a little more and thought about what their “big picture” behind the ideas, I believed I saw where they’re going (or at least what I would like them to do).

Below I will out line each feature and explain how I think it can work. For those who are lazy, I will highlight the key points of my responses.

Join-in Join-Out Multiplayer System.

I like to trust that 343i knows that this isn’t how traditional Halo works. My idea behind this is that it will NOT be seen in the ranked game types. For competitive playlists, this will be turned off creating fair, games, one team vs one other team.

Assuming they don’t change this, it will definitely be in social playlists. The way I see this, it isn’t a bad thing. In a casual, laid back, game, I get frustrated when players are quitting out. I just want to play, and hate having to wait for all the players to quit or finish a 50 point game in a 1v4.

Instant Respawn.

First off, this has already been confirmed to NOT be present in objective based gametypes. Sorry no source for that right now; if you have it, feel free to post and I can edit this. This will only be in FFA gamtypes and the new gametype Regicide. Personally, that doesn’t bother me, especially since I don’t know how it will play out. Again, I will be VERY surprised if this is in any ranked playlists.

Spartan Points and Spartan Ops.

Okay, most everyone agrees, these names are pathetic. But, they are just placeholder names. As in they will be changed before release. So it’s not gonna be “Call of Duty: Spartan Ops 4” or what ever so just relax.

More specifically on “spartan points,” a system very similar to this was in Reach. It really doesn’t affect gameplay; it’s just a nice touch to add some more depth to the game.

Graphics

There is one thing no one can disagree with; The graphics in H4 look PHENOMENAL.
The lighting and new BR look unbelievable. 343i is certainly pushing the xbox to the next level and I am VERY excited about that.

Ranking System

No news has been released about this yet, but I feel it is the most important part of any Halo. Ranking system gives longevity to the game and a desire to keep playing it. My idea is have ranked and social playlists; both earn you “spartan points” or cR or exp or whatever. Only difference is ranked playlists have 1-50 skill based ranking based on wins and losses just like H3 or H2. And I don’t see boosters as a real problem. All 343i needs to do is address the problem by noticing trends in K/D, win/loss, or exp net gain or loss, and ban the people that look “fishy.”

Thanks for reading guys, let me know what you think

Agreed.

I like what I’m reading. The only thing I’ll say on the graphics front is that seeing graphics that good is concerning on a system this old. Pushing an outdated system to play games with amazing graphics tends to have adverse affects on gameplay. Im worried the framerate is going to drop a lot which can absolutely ruin gameplay.

would be surprised if it runs any slower than 30 fps but i definitely see where your coming from. frame rate alone is just as important as graphics

As hesitant as i am 343 said at some point we’re just gonna have to trust them. Until i play the game, full explore it, and experience it myself, i’m just gonna have to trust them.

exactly how I feel. now we just wait.

UGH OPINIONS!!!

This.

I’m in between a rock and a hard place right now. I play BF3 from time to time, and sometimes, my Xbox 360 overheats and shuts down. I’m worried that this is going to be an issue with Halo 4.

I could just buy a new 360, but since the new one is coming out next year or so, I see no reason to. I’m just hoping that this doesn’t push the 360 too far. I really just want to play this game without any interruptions.

And the new Xbox better be able to play 360 games or I’m going to be pissed.

I’d rather the “join mid game” be an option for social. We already have game search parameters in Reach, the voice and team ones that dont seem to do anything, but we have them. The biggest benefit to this feature is to invite your friend if a spot open ups, as long as they don’t end up on the other team  cause then you’ll have another problem altogether.

I think the other big problem people had besides being unsure how the ranks would work was the armour “perks” ans whether they would be balanced or not. My problem is this, a low level would not have the same combat options or perks as a higher level, so how does the low level compete with that?

After thinking about it, you know a good way to combat it? would actually to make sure reletively same levels compete against each other. The solution is just to make sure the 1-50 (or 100) matchmaking system keeps similarly skilled and outfitted players together?

Yes derankers and bad players would still fight against low levels, despite having more equipment. Derankers are another problem we have to deal with, but atleast bad players would have more options to compete against better but less equiped players.

There would also be a slight cross over where bad players with more unlocks would play against bad players with less unlocks. I’m still thinking on that, assuming it would affect a bad players enjoyment anyway? I’m not sure. Thoughts?

Oh the irony of your opinion saying that opinions are stupid or disappointing. These aren’t opinions. They are educated speculations and explanations about how the controversial info leak can be a good thing for the Halo franchise.
