Simple solution to sprint

TL;DR: MAKE SPRINT WORK IN A WAY WHERE WHEN YOU ARE SHOT YOU SLOWDOWN/STOP
I enjoy the ability to sprint in an FPS. I think sprint will go great in halo 4, particularly with the campaign and multiplayer motive of making you feel more like a super soldier. If one read the books, you would know how powerful the Spartans were sprinting at well over 30 kilometers per hour. Being able to do something similar, to a lesser degree sounds like it will be great. I think a true super soldier would sprint out into battle and out of danger rather than just power walk. If you dont quite get what i mean, here 0:42
I personally would love doing this.

But with that said, many hardcore halo fans who do not want to accept the above, or are concerned of how it will affect gameplay competitively, consider this.

Firing at a player who is sprinting slows down, or stops them entirely. In their tracks. This will prevent pansy players from simply running from fights they cant handle. While i personally like chasing down my pray (or the thrill of BEING chased down) i think the above feature will benefit everyone.

Please dont flame me if you disagree with me. Lets be mature people.

I don’t get why everypony else hates sprint, i thought it was nice, in fact, i like it alot, even though sprint is in Halo 4, i hope it remains how Reach’s sprint was! :3

Only read the tl;dr cuz i gotta use the bathroom but I just wanna say I like that.

Already ahead of you.

A full run down of how to keep sprint while making it suitable for a competitive environment.

One thread doesnt cut it. 343 needs reminders. I dont want this idea to die. This thread Must LIVE!

This is the only way that sprint might work but i still think sprint is bad for map design because with sprint the maps need to be really big for it to work. The best maps in all the halo games are the small arena maps like midship and guardian and I think we all know sprint would not work on those maps. Halo 4 should just have faster movement speed and higher jump.

How about sprint stays in custom options where it will hopefully die a slow, painful death?

Have an open mind. Assuming halo goes on for another 10 years, do you seriously want a waxed and repeated halo for 20 YEARS.

Meh those maps can remain as they are, just someone larger to accommodate SUPER soldiers. Who apparently should power walk…

This would work, it is a very good idea.

We seem to have some who agree and some who strongly disagree. Either way, im sure sprint is coming weather we like it or not. Personally, i like it, even if my idea isnt implemented.

We’ve already experienced sprint in Halo and it was awful. So given the option of either having sprint in every game from here on out or not having it in any more games I’d go with never having it again. You people need to learn to accept change and get rid of sprint.

You’re soooo silly folcwine Pie! “giggles” and i agree with JohnRL Dash, but as for you’re saying, Halo 4, no aa’s? then Halo 5, aa’s? then halo 6, no aa’s?

“Giggles” Silly, you silly billy!

this trilogy is going to be 20% cooler! /)^3^(\

So… Deal with it! :3

Well yes, they really shouldnt change something thats not broken.

But if they are going to, why do they add blatantly broken mechanics to the game

IE sprint and jetpack

Why cant people see that they need to do BOTH NEW AND GOOD, not just new. Just because its new -Yoink- doesnt mean its good.

Dead spartans, don’t sprint.

Sprint, tweaked in certain ways, IS good. 343 is looking forward, not back, i honestly cant imagine halo 4 without sprint, its a good game mechanic in general if done well. Not changing whats not broken, lolwut? Nothing is broken, but again, its stupid that genetically augmented supersoldier in bionic armor can only power walk.

Gameplay>realism.

Also, tell me one thing upping the base speed cant accomplish that sprint can.

Sprint should be a standard ability with infinite use. The limitations should be the same, i.e. no weapon use while sprinting. This is a must for campaign and FF at the least. I can see limiting it in MM, but I could also see it’s inclusion as an unlimited ability in MM as well. It would add an interesting dynamic in some instances.
