We must let 343 know now what we think of halo 4. I know the forums have been really on the same page but we need a formal catalog so that we know for sure who likes and doesn’t like halo 4. A poll is the best possible way to do that.
simple answer, yes.
In my opinion, anyone who gives Halo 4 a “very bad”, “worst”, or even “bad” ranking is pretty biased. If you want to see a bad game check out Big Rig Racing, Ride to Hell, Superman 64, or Sonic Freeriders.
With the broad scale presented by the OP you need to keep a sense of perpective.
Maybe for campaign and spartan ops but not as far as multiplayer goes IMO.
I voted good game, but not a good halo.
The past week I’ve been playing Reach. Not MP, but FF and campaign. I still love it and I’ve put almost 3x the time into Reach as H4 and it’s still fun. AL does suck, but it doesn’t break the game.
Reach had a solid campaign, not the best, but still good.
Halo 4 has a fun campaign (not a huge fan of the story)
Reach’s FF is fun and can be customized
H4’s Spartan Ops is fun, but lacks customization and the replay ability of FF
Reach had fun MP that still felt like Halo
H4 has MP that feels like CoD
It could be better. Needs improvement.
It’s Halo. It has my heart. But like ericky said, it could be better.
I would say bad. To me, a game is bad if it doesn’t have much redeeming qualities that make it worth my time playing. This is also why I feel Mass effect 3 for example, is a bad game. Gameplay wise its balanced and smooth, but there are a lot of factors that drive me away from replaying it or playing it at all, much like Halo 4.
as a game, it is pretty good.
But, as a Halo game, not really.
It’s not good. But it’s not bad either. It’s sitting right the middle. Biggest problem is, it’s boring. If there’s anything worse then a bad or broken game, it’s a boring one.
It’s a good game like Reach on it’s own. But when I want to play a Halo game I go play halo 3.

Ehhh. halo reach and halo 4 are the definitions of halo games now.

yea, for people who started Halo with them.
But not for those who started Halo with the original trilogy :\

I’ve played since the first game and I prefer Reach over the original trilogy :\
along with h3 this is the worst multiplayer so far.
my opinion of course

I was referring to the majority of the Halo community, but I can agree with you that Reach was Better than some of the original titles.
In fact, Reach is my 2nd favourite Halo game, with Halo 3 being number 1, and CE being number 3.
For a Halo game, it’s ok. Yes, it has some flaws, particularly in Matchmaking. But as a stand alone game, it’s a lot better than most games out there.
The game could be good so easy if 343 would just listen to the fans.
I know a lot of people that would still play the game if it would have:
– a showable ranking system/playlist
– not a highest rank of 130 (waht the –yoink– where they thinking?)
– JIP would be removed (please, I dont wanna talk about how it can help, its broken)
– Less aim assists and a 4 shot BR since the beginning. (DMR was to overpowered)
– More 4v4 fantastic maps like haven
– Removing broken AAs like Jetpack, PV and Camo
– Removing the boltshot and also the sticky/pp combo
– Fix weapon spawns on map from the beginning (I can still see S Detonaters and Railgungs appear randomly)
– put in more classic based gameplay from day one
– And really important for me, FIX THE HOST CONNECTION SYSTEM, its the most terrible, laggy, unfair multyplayer expirience I ever had to play.
I love the campaign, graphics, Artwork the “idea” of SpOps, the new weapons etc. etc. but what really hold me for years was the multyplayer and its challenge to reach something in it and get better.
So I would say, Its a good game that really annoys me but could be one of the greatest with some little changes. My definition in broken english xD
Taken at face value, Halo 4 is actually a really fun game. When compared to what would be expected of a halo game, using the past halos and their receptions as precedent of what a successful halo would be like, it wasn’t that good.
I will take this to my grave, though, it was much better than Halo Reach.
> It’s Halo. It has my heart. But like ericky said, it could be better.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Halo 4 was a sandbox for a ton of new ideas and concepts. I suspect 343 always intended for Halo 4 to be a precursor to Halo 5 rather than a continuation of Halo 3. The problem was in the scope of it all. The delivery execution wasn’t on par with past games. It is more sprawling than it should have been. I feel it was just too big in scope for a new gaming studio.
Here’s hoping 343 learned a ton of valuable lessons from Halo 4 and will use them to make Halo 5 more like what we’re accustomed to. Like they said above, it’s Halo. I’m a fan, even when the current iteration isn’t the best offering in the franchise.
