Simple Question: Infinity or Classic?

If Halo Xbox One could only borrow elements from one game, and it would be a logical step forward form this game, which one would you choose?

Halo 3 - Classic

Halo 4 - Infinity

Discussion is welcome, but I really want votes. (As a newer member to this forum, I am derping on how to make a poll, so you might see some difficulties at first.)

I prefer Infinity for the new direction of Halo (so I’ll vote that), but there honestly should be both.

Got the thread about it here: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst240265_343--Classic-and-Infinity-playlists-CRUCIAL.aspx

I’ll stick with Halo 2/3 since there was nothing good about Halo 4’s attempt.

No choice for both? Why do people insist that the community be divided? It’s bad enough that 343i didn’t allow for a choice at release. I like the concept of Infinity settings, but that does not mean I hate classic settings. I’d like to be able to go back and forth depending on my mood. Lack of choice is Halo 4’s worst feature.

People like the classic settings, but they don’t like having to put an old game in the machine to do that. Perfectly understandable. You shouldn’t have to do that. There are 13 years of data available to provide a basis for providing games most people will play, and a robust custom games area will provide the rest.

We have the technology for both. Why do we have to choose?

I’m going to be incredibly annoying and say… both… or neither.

I don’t really like the new infinity changes in particular ordinance and -YOINK!-ing perks, but (although I enjoyed it), i don’t want to return all the way back to a game (or style of game) that’s around 10 years old. I’ve not got a problem with age, I would just be a bit disappointing to see that after a decade, that the multiplayer has not developed for the better.

What I would like to see is perhaps rebuild of the older styles (say halo 3, I never played 2 so I can’t say) and apply next gen tech to it.

I have to say, I liked halo reach although i appreciate many halo elitists don’t. My opinion is to have halo back to older styles where it was more popular, or more importantly, successful but try and implement a good AA/Equipment system, perhaps limited AAs and equipment on the d-pad.

Sprint - I’m torn on. On the outside, I can say i enjoy it, I hated while playing halo 3 walking slowly and not being able to get across the map quickly. It’s bad enough on battlefield getting across the map on foot and you have unlimited sprint, and I would like to see bigger maps in halo BTB, so some solution is going to have to be found. However, halo 4 is the only halo that bores me. There’s no excitement, and one possible core reason may be sprint, but i don’t know, there’s a lot of other factors it may be

Simple Question: Complex Answer, Sorry.

Both, but have the Infinity playlist be scaled down so the transition between that and more classic gamemodes will not be as drastic. This could be done by implementing playlists that support loadouts, fixed loadouts, or singular loadouts (even spawns). I’m not implying that this strategy will make everyone happy, but instead give the loadout system a second chance.

A mixture of both!!

I want customizable loadouts.(without PP,Boltshot,PlasmaNade)
I want ordnance drop in combination with AA’s. When u get to ordnance, u have 3 AA’s to choose between.(without jetpack and promethean vision) No weapons and nothing like overshield or damageboost in ordnance.
Put power weapons back on maps (even then i don’t want to see the SAW again)

I want to see Awareness, Explosives, Ordnance Priority, Sensor and ,eventually, Survivor removed from Support Upgrades.

I want to see Fast Track (if the lvl system is still so short in h5), Grenadier, Shielding and AA Efficiency removed from Tactical Package.

10-1 in favor of classic? I’m actually kinda shocked tbh. I thought that a good part of the remaining forum folks, actually enjoy the new system.

I voted classic, but I’m not against additions. I’d like to see something that stirs the pot in Halo XB1.

Halo 3 is not classic by my books. It is Evolved.

Halo CE is classic.

Classic Halo 2/3 with a sprinkle of CE and a few minor updates, please. That would be great fun. One or two things from Reach (Grenade launcher and Revenant?) and absolutely nothing from Halo 4.

I’m sorry guys…I want both Infinity and Classic in Halo 5. If you think about it would be silly to go back to just classic settings b/c those days of halo 2/3…are gone. The reason for that is players will be taking away 343’s creativity on there own game that they made. Just want to point out, we’re not gonna get 100% of what we want. However, if there were a Classic Playlist, I’ll take that. A full MM under Classic Settings would be extremely slow and boring. Let 343 evolve Halo from its old gameplay and introduce new style of gameplay.

What evidence do you have that a full MM under Classic Settings would be extremely slow and boring?

> We have the technology for both. Why do we have to choose?

Because OP asked you to choose. It was made clear in the title, poll, and the original post: “which one would you choose?”

I would choose classic.
But it needs to evolve.

And no, Halo Reach/4 was not evolution.

It’s actually a straight forward question. The evolution of either choice was implied…

I’ll take the classic core.

Voted Classic

I want Halo 5 to have Halo 2/3’s CORE play game mechanics.

Halo 5 should be built with a PURE Arena style in mind!..I don’t want a copy of halo 2/3.

As far as IS, I think it should be removed or put into action sack as a game mode.

I always hear people say why not both? I don’t think both works that well. It’s fine to have a playlist of something but not a 50/50 split how I’ve heard others say.

If we are to have two styles…how about Classic style because we KNOW it works and something Entirely NEW!! NOT IS!

Well, I’m with these guys

We would like to choose after the disk is in the machine, not before.

Actually, if you think about it, Reach was an evolution from Halo 3 in almost every way. Equipment was the extreme of the concept of extra abilities, single-use pickup. AA’s were the other extreme, infinite-use-on-spawn.

We received a new forge, gametypes, maps, vehicles, campaign, better-structured MP system (although lack of Tru-skill was a disappointment), and custom game options.

Reach actually was an evolution.

Okay, it was somewhat of an evolution, but it was a messy evolution filled with things people did not need.

And i dont count

> gametypes, maps, vehicles, campaign,

As proper evolution, because they are pretty much a standard these days.

Classic is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Infinity. There is no contest. Evolving on the Classic core is obviously going to happen from game to game, but what they have done with Reach and even more with H4 is just tossing most of the Classic formula out the window and making some different and worse.
