The thing is you now have the MCC which will let you continue your unwavering devotion to H2/H3 for the next five to ten years so please just stay entrenched there while 343 goes to new and scary places with H5G. Let MCC be the flagship honoring Halo’s past and let 343 move in new directions with H5G.
By the same token I could say if you like the direction 343 took halo 4, get entrenched in COD and leave halo to the halo fans. Look there’s nothing wrong with a game changing, but when it changes to the point where most people don’t recognize it it’s time to back peddle a bit. I mean the main reason to change is to keep things fresh and attract new players, and considering the changes in games like reach and 4 not only failed to attract many new fans but decimated the existing fan population I’d argue the “new and scary places” need to be questioned.
Innovation is different from copying basic fps mechanics from cod/battlefield. Yes, Halo 5 needs to be new and fresh by adding new features while mantaining the halo core: no sprint, no loadouts, no ADS or whatever; all of this elements are already in other games, so there’s no point in destroying the halo formula to have these overused mechanics, 343 should already learnt this from the halo 4’s feedback.
@ ligas of earth- I could agree even more I tried of hearing COD and Halo portray in the same sentence like come now. what a halo game what a COD game modern first person Shooters, they emulate combat in a fictional scene so how it plays is beyond any point of spectrum. So halo is so skill base yaddy yaddy yaddy Ya a point which I find madding I’m real tired of all this MLG eSports nonsense. EVOLVE OR BECOME IRRELEVANT.

Because moving in new directions for Reach and Halo 4 was so successful right?
How many people play those games again? None?
The player numbers in both those games took a nose dive 1-2 weeks after launch. These ‘new directions’ are clearly not what the majority of Halo players want. You cant even argue otherwise because numbers back this up.

Halo 4 evolved and became irrelevant. The population has dropped like a stone, because that game added a bunch of unwanted and messily-implemented changes to the Halo formula.
I have yet to see a single person literally advocating for a Halo 3 clone. People want new game mechanics, but they don’t want ones that damage or nullify Halo’s core, established game mechanics. Naturally, people are going to cite Halo 3 as a reference and a model, because that was the last Halo game that accomplished what they want. That doesn’t make them “zealots.” It makes them “long time fans who disapprove of the franchise’s new direction.”
