Silverlight

Why does Waypoint tell me every week that I need to install the latest version of Silverlight to view any videos? It wants me to redownload the entire package every time. Why doesn’t it come in the form of an update like every other program? Why do I need the absolute latest version of Silverlight to play a video? Even without their latest updates, most programs still run smoothly. What makes Silverlight different?

In general, Silverlight just sucks, you are required to have the most recent version like you said, and even when you do, the compression on videos is awful.

Curious, could you try uninstalling Silverlight completely, and reinstalling it from scratch, I haven’t had to update Silverlight for months.

If a re-install of current version doesn’t work, try this:

> Completely uninstall Silverlight 5.1.10411.0 from your computer. Then download and install Silverlight 5.1.10516 from the link below:

Actually it’s not. The compression starts out bad to allow the video to start playing sooner and it improves once the video plays for a little while. If you don’t like that, you can pause the video and allow it to load more before you start playing. The bad thing is that there isn’t anything in the UI of the player that let’s you know that that is what’s happening.

I was about to say pretty much the same thing, lol!

Also, it’s not necessarily Silverlight that’s resulting in the multiple levels of resolution/data bandwidth. It’s actually the way the video player has been configured. Not all Silverlight players are the same.

Silverlight sucks. I would also assume that waypoint is slow because Microsoft might forced 343 to use their own stuff, which if it’s anything like silverlight…it sucks balls.
