Silly REQ Weapons

I’m not liking how many requisition weapons are just the base model with a flashy paint job and a silly name.

That’s fine to an extent, and character-owned weapons like Nornfang and The Prophets’ Bane I can deal with, but I was hoping the weapons would be more like in-universe variants. For instance; a Heavy Sniper Rifle with a different barrel and enhanced optics with a beefier design rather than the same model with rainbow colors and called “The Penetrator” or something.

It just feels too “juvenile” (for lack of a better word) and boring to have so many REQs handled this way thus far. Vehicle variants have been treated far better and all of them thus far seem like something that would be used on Halo’s battlefields.

I had my fill of goofy weapon names in Destiny, and I wish they’d kept that to a minimum.

Oh I totally agree, the vast majority of the weapon skins are cartoony and juvenile and lame. And are not in keeping with the more industrial/real world vibe the UNSC weapons used to have. I mean come on, these are projectile weapons. Don’t turn this into mass effect or some other -Yoink-, I love mass effect…but I loved Halo because of how it was…I don’t want a blending of all this BS. I am deathly afraid this game will remind me of destiny, which was godawful. That is literally my greatest fear, not that the campaign will suck, or the game will be boring…but that I will get a destiny vibe.

…So is there a problem or not?

“The Penetrator?” Sounds pretty juvenile to me.

Hope to see an Incineration Cannon variant that fires a shower of Sniper Rifles which instantly noscope all targets in their line of sight as they tumble to the ground
This would balance out all the small tweaks/reskins

It’s laziness/lack of time. Just stick a skin on it, change a couple of the configurable traits, get your kids to name it, job done.

Well hopefully they bring in classic halo weapon designs or just different designs entirely

I like it and it also worked out with CSGO… but yeah - only my two cents - we will see how it works out for the majority…(ah and i talk about the Skins/Coloring Scheme)

It’s not laziness or lack of time, I could come up with better -Yoink- in ten minutes. Well alright, it might be laziness…or just poor design choices by the team. If I was directing the art design a lot of the stuff that has made the cut…simply wouldn’t have.

Probably too time consuming for them to actually alter anything else besides the paint job. I think the Oni Scorpion may actually be different in size, so there’s something besides it being a Black Scorpion. They have some nice names, I like the Twin Jewels of whatever the hell it’s called.

Exactly my point. There’s too many “Penetrators” and not enough “M6C SOCOM”.

E, I kinda like it.

i think they did it with the weapons so it would be easier to see what sniper the person has. for example if someone has Nornfang you can tell due to the paint. but if Nornfang just had diff attachments no one would be able to tell the diff

Pretty sure this is the case OP

There has to be a balance. I can see why The penetrator would be a terrible name [Insert bad sexual pun here]. But there is only so much military jargon (and in this case fake military jargon) that you can throw in there.

of Maethrillian, couldn’t remember that, ha I almost said Meridian.

Halo’s weapon sandbox has been starkly utilitarian for a long time and I think it’s innocent fun to use the whole rainbow of colors on them to produce different versions of all of them.

A black Scorpion that fires high power energy projectiles instead of shells.

To each his own. I am enjoying the new weapon skins and there are plenty of variants that alter weapon stats.
