SilentA98's Community Jumps Thread

SilentA98’s Community Jumps Thread

So I tried this before and I’ll try it again. Not sure how many people will are about jumping or anything of the sort, nor do I know if waypoint has any knowledge of the subject.

But I’ll try.

So, Silent here. This is my second attempt at a Community Jumps thread. Basically, what I’m going to be doing is attempting to provide a list of interesting jumps and tricks within the game of Halo 4.

There are a couple main ways to pull off a trick jump or tac jump in Halo 4. The main ways consist of Standard jumping (of course), Spring Jumping and Grenade Jumping. Now, the first and last kind are fairly simplistic, although spring jumping can get a bit tricky in itself.

I’ve linked a video for those confused or in need of tutorial.

Other kinds of jumps are pressure launches, Concussion Rifle jumps and some tricks with the Thruster pack.

Now, as my Halo 4 disc no longer works and I’ve got no capture card, I can’t show you these jumps myself, so more than likely I’ll end up posting videos I find on youtube (and of course give credit to the makers of the video).

Feel free to link your own jumps or jumps you’ve found on youtube so I can post them here.

So here we go (for now, I’ll start with a map list and link as I go along):

Weren’t all the trick jumps and what not removed and replaced with jetpack?

> Weren’t all the trick jumps and what not removed and replaced with jetpack?

If a jump is genuinely useful then it still has purpose in the many playlists without AAs, but yeah, jet pack must have take a lot of the fun out of it.

The spring jump in that video is a good example, one that I hadn’t seen and am sure I’ll now use :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s definitely really useful. More so than I expected when I started using it.

Nobody expects you to come from that area :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty much. This is my attempt to revive them, and give people alternate ways to move around the map without a need for jetpack.

Jetpacks might be around, but there are jumps that can be done without it, or pretty much be better without it. (I.E. Abandon for example. You can jump over a wall at the middle.)

Hi silent allways wonted to know how to do different jumps.i tryed doing Grenade jumps for the speed reader achievement for halo CEA I was not to good.cool topic sir.

I miss trick jumps :frowning:

> I miss trick jumps :frowning:

They’re still there :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d argue there are more possible jumps and styles in Halo 4 than in any of the previous games. I do miss Ghost Ledge jumps though.

Halo 4 jumps are underutilized thanks to jetpack. But you’ll see the jumps when I start posting videos here, which should be soon.

I’ll be adding tutorials for all the jumping styles as I go along

Haven jump video just blew me a new mindhole.

p.s. You’ve got the wrong link for ‘Spring Sprint Thruster jumps’ - hehe edited this just as caveman posted…

Hey Silent, just wanted to point out that 2 videos in your OP share the same link:

Spring Sprint Thruster jumps - PandoalaBear

Edit: BravoMLG has some nice videos you might like to check out. Here is one that highlights jumps and positioning on Haven: Halo 4 Tricks: Haven Jumps & Angles

Nice catch guys :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll fix it if I can find the video again, and I’ll link some more vids to different maps tomorrow.

Glad you liked the jumps :). There’s definitely a lot more than one would have guessed at first glance.

Also, thanks for the video Caveman! Will put it in with the rest.

I remember seeing a good video for abandon trick jumps, but I think most of them were for camping. Haven is a trick jumper’s heaven.

Yup. Haven is pretty much the new Epitaph or Guardian when it comes to an abundance of jumps. It’s part of why I love the map so much.

Speaking of Abandon, I think that’s the one I’ll work on videos for tomorrow, with an easter egg video thrown in there as well (as it’s also jumping related).

Hey great thread!! I’m really big into trick jumps. Halo 2 had the coolest IMO but H3 takes the cake with how many types of jumps can be done. I have found a lot of jumps in H4, I wish I could capture them :\ Check out YouTube - JumprsOfficial for some great Halo 4 Jumping videos.

Hey Silent, I think I found a new technique for jumping last night.

I was setting up Cliffside to play Ricochet and experimenting with a few pieces to allow for some different combat situations and discovered this:

If you are crouch jumping to a high ledge you can tap the AA button at the peak of your jump to get a miniscule amount of extra height. This seems to make tough jumps that are barely out of reach a lot easier. At the time I was using Hologram as my AA (although I don’t think it matters because the trick worked even while my AA was recharging).

If you’d like I can setup Cliffside with the exact jump I used to discover this technique, so you can see what I’m refering to.

Edit: I captured a clip to demonstrate the above technique: Hologram Jump
