On the original halo you had to hit it at an angle then move about till it squeezed in there should be vids on youtube 
I’m assuming the halway with the locked door guarded by the sword elite? never gotten the Warthog itself in there but I have flown many times with the right eviction to slide past the door before it closes and skip like 30% of the level lol. Such a fun mission to speedrun, perhaps best of the series.
Yup! Its actually not to hard as you just have to diruve fast, turn and get out so you go through the door as its closing. pretty fun to pull off for speedrunning cheevos.

Just like that bud , i also remember if you were quick on the control room you could jump into the pelican as it fly’s over the bridge and ride it to the drop off point under the bridge
