I am aware that 343 have said that Infinite will look and feel great on normal xbox one consoles, but one thing that’s really on my mind is will there be any significant differences between both versions?
Are we looking at something like Breath of the Wild on Wii U compared to the switch version?
Will there only be limited support on the non project Scarlet version?
Will players have content cut or downsized in the older gen release?
If someone from the dev team can give us some sort of answer without revealing anything about the game that is agreed on a NDA, that would be amazing. I would rather spend £50-£60 instead of around £600 just to play Infinite.
Most likely the first wave of games to come out will have been developed for both, so yes probably something like that. Another good example would be when the Xbox One first came out, looking at all the games then. Battlefield 4 released both on the 360 and the One and there was a noticable improvement - 64 players on the one and only 32 on the 360, let alone visual differences. AC4 Black Flag as well - higher framerate, more fidelity. Same exact game but visually different and all around smoother.
The main thing to note is that with every release of a new console, it takes years for developers to really utilize the full potential of the console. Take a look at a game like the very first Assassins Creed. Then compare it to Black Flag - you can tell that there is an improvement. Same with Gears of War and Halo (Halo 3 vs Halo 4 which is notably better graphically) Both games are running on the 360.
With that in mind, off the bat I don’t think there will be much of a difference - it will run smother and look a bit better and handle well, but I think that’s where the differences will end. The game that will be the most noticeable will be the next halo game after infinite since they will have been using the console to it’s full potential.
Ys, big thing will be CPU stuff. Most likely we will see the number of AI on screen dumbed down a bit on older systems and def there will be a hit to the performance
Also loading screens on the Series X version of the game will be almost nonexistent aside from loading into a multiplayer match since everyone still has to connect with each other on the server
There may also be support for FPS levels higher than 60 on the Series X version since the console is supposed to be able to support up to 120 FPS for certain games

As long as the game runs fairly well on the One S, I don’t care much for the loading screens and stuff… I’d rather wait a while til a Series X is on sale.
I would imagine it’ll be similar to how PC versions compare to console. Basically everything will be the same in terms of content, the only thing being different is visuals and performance, maybe some effects.
There will be a huge graphical difference between the original Xbox One and the Series X. I remember upgrading to an X1X for Black Ops 4 and it felt like I got new glasses.
Even then, the Series X is slated to blow the X1X out of the water so by skipping the X1X generation you are really going to notice it. That being said, I am going to wait for a Digital Foundry video to do a comparison between the X1X and the Series X with regards to Infinite to see exactly what the difference is before buying a new console.
In terms of content, I highly doubt they would cut any for the earlier versions of the Xbox.
As others are saying I’m sure the differences will primarily be visual and performance aspects. But maybe there will be some game modes that will have more players on the Series X or more wildlife in the environment. Either way the differences won’t be big enough where people will have to revolt and storm 343 HQ.

I agree. I had a day one console and I bought Xbox One X day one, there is a huge difference. I’m very impressed how Microsoft have done the upgrading. I’ll be able to upgrade a console generation and not lose anything. As for how Halo will run across all consoles ? Time will tell, and Digital Foundry will reveal all.
