Significance of cracked Visor

In the Halo 5 Experience there are a series of 10 little game clips from Chief and Locke’s perspective.

In a few of these clips Chief has a cracked visor just like he had in the 2013 E3.

What could this mean?

Fred threw the Chief his weapon without saying heads up.

People have been trying to guess and figure out what happened to Chief’s visor in that trailer ever since it came out, but I’m pretty sure that the whole thing was simply a visual representation of Halo 5’s basic story: Chief’s on the run (cloak represents hiding or evading, in this case from the UNSC and Locke), Chief’s still fighting the fight (cracked visor represents the toils of his current mission), big Forerunner something is coming out into the open (trailer’s construct represents the Guardians). From that trailer we got the broad strokes of what Halo 5’s story would be about without revealing anything specific to come.

I don’t think the cracked visor we saw in the recent clips means anything more than Chief got hit in the face by something.

Maybe his fist fight with Locke.

Maybe it was when the Didact crushed his helmet on 03.

Isn’t there a safelite equivalent in the future?

Locke punched Chief in the face.

lol “say safelite repair safelite replace 3x and we teleport you a new visor.”

I personally think it’s supposed to represent the fact the the chief is himself breaking. 30 years of war with the covenant, losing most of his spartans, the death of cortana and Johnson. I thinks it’s supposed to be a metaphor for everything he’s lost. He himself has become “broken” and I think his visor is the metaphor for that. The undefeatable warrior sustained damage only in the area of his suit that he can physically and mentally feel.

I think that is probably what the writers were thinking when they decided to have his visor cracked for a portion of the game. I wonder if it will be cracked the entire game or if he is going to find a way to repair/replace it. Or potentially even get some awesome forerunner armor.
