Short and sweet: does anyone else see an issue with having to post about 5,000 times just to have a signature? This is the only forum I’ve ever seen that has something like that.
Used to think it was a little steep but stopped caring after a while.
And just to clarify, it isn’t 5,000. You need 6,001 posts.

6,001? Well, that’s just lovely. Well, maybe I’ll hit it someday. Eventually.

It didn’t take me long, IT IS possible to post 6001 posts, and not spam once!
Plus, that requirment keeps the population of people with signatures down to a managable number, so we don’t have

Or signatures with things in them that aren’t per the rules.
They’re just signatures but I think they could be unlocked at a lower forum rank and post count, perhaps ODST - Silver. I’m a Spartan and my signature just reads: “Infinity”.

I honestly thought 5,000 would’ve been enough but that’s mainly my OCD.
Yes it is a ridiculous requirement, but we have this because some people aren’t responsible and ruin everything for everyone. The issue is up for debate in my opinion, but my opinion doesn’t matter so…
Personally, I like the Spartan - Iron signature requirement. It allows people with those ranks to stand out, IMO.
And, it ensures that we don’t have signatures that state:

I think I’m about 1,500 away or something like that. Haven’t checked recently.
Well I am a Master of Unicorns. And want to stay way. Meaning. No Signature for me ever. xD and I am fine with that 
Well, you are close man, im at 60 post ^^ I should have joined this forum before 
Anyway, is not bad that we unlock thing with your number of posts. Even if 6001 is a big amount, i think it is worth it

To bad they can’t just give you a signature when you reach 6,001 post and still retain Master of Unicorns.
I wouldn’t want signatures flooding all over the forums. Same reason I’m glad you can’t permanently keep a color for your font and instead have to click it every time, otherwise this place would be a rainbow.

I like how there are a few users who color their posts, but too many would be annoying. Kind of a bummer you can’t color your signatures however, but it becomes Waypoint Blue if it is linked.

Don’t you just LOVE that, there’s a rule, a warning label, a sign at the bottom of overpasses that say “Overpass obstructs view”, and other things because SOMEONE somewhere, didn’t have common sense, common courtesy, and/or respect.

Same here, I’m okay with the concept of lowering the post amount required for a signature, but if the Admins don’t agree, and feel they should leave it as is, I say, lets not push the subject.

Seeing as how the moderators are the one in charge of controlling people who go crazy with signatures (among other things), they are the ones whose opinions matter if the Forum Team were to take into consideration lowering the Signature requirement. It wouldn’t matter if you got a few thousand users on this to support the idea, if the moderators feel that they wouldn’t be able to properly control the signature abuse, then it is a moot point.
I think I prefer the higher limit to be honest. It’s a nice reward for users who have contributed quite a bit to the site and the forums are a lot cleaner without signatures everywhere. I’ve seen some horrible forums where people have huge images and links all over their sigs - you don’t know where the post starts or ends. Simple is good
I’ve moderated a few high profile forums before and it can be tricky to manage a lot of users, even with a big team.
