Sign In Problem

If I’m on Waypoint for a few hours sometimes it will sign me out automatically and it won’t let me sign in for a while. I was just wondering if its normal.

It’s normal to the users, but 343 still hasn’t said anything about it…

I’m not sure if they’ve said a lot about it on public boards, but they are aware of the issue, and are possibly working on a solution.

I’ve had that happen to me before, have you tried clearing your cookies? (Not really a solution, just a work-around)

There’s nothing you can do to ‘work-around’ it. It’s a bug with the server.

It’s happened to me about 10 times.

It’s worked for me, so I don’t know

Maybe I’m just misunderstanding the situation

It would have been coincidental. The “kick outs” are usually for 10-15 minutes.

Flat’s right: it is a server bug. If you have multiple web browsers installed, it’ll affect all of them no matter what you delete or restart or refresh.

My hypothesis is that the forum server knows full well that you’re logged in, but it just decides not to do anything to acknowledge the fact for some reason – it “stops caring”. Just a theory, though – not proven or anything.

I think it makes several calculations, through various complex algorithms, and determines if you’ve been on Waypoint too much, and forces tou to take a break, go to sleep, or play some Halo.

But seriously,
I think it (for unknown reason) is an issue with the asynchronous connection to the Xbox.com servers (from the Waypoint servers). It seems to desync, as Xbox.com will say you have signed in, yet Waypoint will treat the Sign in button as a refresh button.

Could be as simple as a flaw in the log in code that is executed server side before page load.

Yes, this happened to me, but i was kicked off for 19 days

That along with the atrocious lag on the site in general are definitely not helping contribute to the Halo Waypoint image in a positive light, that’s for sure.

The site is a chore to use at least 50% of the time. Plain and simple.

e:Just had a solid half an hour of the main forums page loading as a strictly text page that was all out-of-format. Just one other thing to take not of.

These forums are a mess for the today and the last few days. They’re pretty random. 343i are aware and hopefully are working on a solution. And hopefully also a way to improve the tedious loading times of this forum.

Yeah, these forums really needs to be updated, fixed or what ever’s necessary, an exorcism maybe? :stuck_out_tongue:

Today when I try to post, it takes 30-60 seconds for the site to “accept” that I’ve tried to post an post (lol). Sometimes it even times out and “drops” my post instead :frowning:
I’ve tried multiple browsers, clearing cookies, even different computers with different OS. Even check with “isitdownjustforme” and they confirmed that the site was down (even though it’s up now).
If the forums have these problems now, I expect some major downtime when Halo 4 is released :frowning:
I hope they fix the issues soon anyhow, I can’t stand being able to respond to a maximum of 3 topics before the servers gets a problem, having it take a minute or more to submit a reply etc. What’s the point in having forums if you can’t use them…

Yeah… I can’t even play the Waypoint app for Xbox. I’ve already downloaded the new update, yet it keeps forcing me to re-download the update. I cannot proceed to Halo 4 content, let alone Waypoint’s menu. I’m stuck on YouTube until it gets a fix…

Oh cruel fate…

They are possibly working on a solution? What kind of answer is that?

I do not Know about you guys, but I try to get on Waypoint on my 360. Even when I am signed in it still asks me to sign in.
