Why exactly are guests allowed to play in every playlist except Throwdown? Should it not be the other way around. Shouldn’t they be barred from playing in every single playlist except a special playlist just for people with guests?
Don’t they throw off the matchmaking process?
For example… Just played Team Snipers with another player who had a guest. The main player went 15 kills and 12 deaths. Respectable at the least. His guest however, which I’m assuming may have been a dog stepping on the controller at convenient times, went 5 kills and 19 deaths.
3 things happen when Guests are allowed in games.
#1 A player controlling 2 in game players. I have seen this many times. Not quite sure why people think it’s a good hing to do, but they do it nonetheless. They will control their main gamertag until they die, at which point they will pick up the second controller and play the guest.
#2 The guest is very bad. 9/10, guests I’ve seen usually end up finishing a game of Halo 4 with about 4x as many deaths as they got kills. Most people would say K/D does not matter, but during a game of Halo, it does. If you died 25 times and only got 5 or fewer kills, you are one of the reasons your team lost. Again, I question how Matchmaking can adequately match a player and his guest when the game has no way of knowing that persons skill for the TrueSkill system.
#3 They quit. Not only is it bad enough when someone quits, it’s made even worse by the fact that a guest leaves with the main player. I have been in Big Team games where a player had 2 accompanying guests. He quit, taking them with him. So my team was down 3 people. Giving the enemy team the advantage of having 3 more people.
Why are guests allowed in Matchmaking exactly? I know 343 is trying to cater to everyone, but I would have to respectfully disagree with their handling of guests in Halo 4.
Why not return to Halo 3’s handling of guests and make it so that there are a set amount of playlists that guests can play and set amount where they are not allowed. With CSR kicking in, I don’t think this is to unfair of a request.
I know every Halo has allowed Guests. However, Halo 2 and Halo 3 restricted what playlists guests could partake in. I want that back. Instead of just Throwdown eing the only restricted playlist for guests.
