How come it never happened?
Probably because they already did it in Halo 3 with Avalanche. However, I would definitely love to see that map remade again.

One of the biggest mistakes done in Halo, DLC Maps. Horrid idea. Specially in Halo 4. Lucky me that I bought the legendary edition.

It was still a remake nonetheless. People wanted a remake of that map, so they were kind enough to make it into DLC. Hey, if you don’t consider it game content, it’s your loss my friend.

Unfortunately not only my loss, also the loss of the people who actually bought the pack and didn’t get to play it often. Most people don’t buy DLC.
You most be mistaken I played on Avalanche often in Halo 3. It was worth getting dlc during that time.
Avalanche was a spiritual successor(as said above). But It’d be nice to see an on disc remake,I don’t know why there hasn’t been more iterations of it. That was one of my favorite maps of all time.

It was, unless we only classify remake as “an exact copy-paste version”.
I like Sidewinder but I still view Avalanche as the better version. One of my favorite BTB maps of all time.

In Halo 3, after the release of ODST, I found myself playing DLC maps more often than not. DLC map packs is a fantastic idea, as long as it’s implemented properly.
On that note, I absolutely loved Avalanche, which I found to be a fantastic remake/re-imagining of Sidewinder. It took the layout that we knew and love, kept it, and then turned it into something new and special. I would be 100% for a remake of either map in Halo 5!
I managed to get on Avalanche in Halo 3 loads of times…
A remake a Sidewinder would be cool. I have a soft spot for snowy maps, and it plays well.
