Title pretty much says it all. The sidekick is making this game feel like H5 and I don’t mean that as compliment. Only pistols for every single match makes for stale gameplay and negatively impacts and already barren sandbox. IMO the sidekick should be like the Halo 3 pistol, effective when needed but not the meta of the whole game.
While the Sidekick is way better than expected, it’s not the hand cannon that H5’s Magnum was.
That thing was a beast at mid to longer than you’d want ranges.
I think the Sidekick has it about right. In skilled hands it is deadly. But you wouldn’t run past a better weapon.

I understand why the CE magnum is such beast and thats because Bungie actually made the AI to strong so instead of fixing how strong the enemy was because of how little time they had to finish fhe game, they just made the pistol a beast.
But the Halo 2, 3 and Reach and even the ODST pistol felt just right with its place in the sandbox. Imo
The CE magnum was actually drastically different for virtually all of CE’s development.
The famous legend is that one of the last code changes before CE went gold (the final code tree in pre- online days), one of Bungie’s leads (forget who) put in a change that doubled the pistols damage (they did it on purpose).

As for the sidekick feeling like the H5 magnum, I don’t think that’s quite right. It feels very different, but is still effective which I like.
That’s from a controller user’s perspective though. On MnK maybe they feel a lot more similar.
Thank you! This is what ive been saying, its too reliable. The sidekick should only be there as a last resort in close proximity. The sidekick should never compete with mid range or long range engagements, not even short to mid range engagement. Not with full effectiveness anyways.
People run past better weapons all the time because they feel more comfortable with the sidekick…
From what I’ve heard, the CE Magnum’s damage is only insane to the Spartan Biped, it functions like a pretty standard damage weapon on all the enemies.

H5 Magnum is a beast, much more deadly than the Sidekick of Halo Infinite.
Man people just love talking nonsense. A close range high bloom spam pistol is totally the same thing as a proper utility weapon like the Halo 5 Magnum right? A high bloom pistol is inherently unreliable.
These people will not be satisfied until human pistols are removed from the game entirely or they are so bad they might as well be just like the Halo 3 Pistol. Bottom tier handguns are for class and loadout shooters not an Arena shooter, especially not one like Halo were there is a fixed two weapon limit regardless of size or shape of a weapon.
Its just more intensely shallow “bbbut a pistol can’t be better than a rifle.” If the bloody Sidekick is too powerful and “reliable” reduces variety then you might as well not spawn anyone with any weapons at all. If the Sidekick is all it takes to make the game stale, the Infinite sandbox is turbo trash and no amount of nerfs to the sidekick will make the sandbox good.
But as you all have proven time and again, you don’t actually care about true variety where each weapon has something to offer in certain situations, you only care about this arbitrary forced “variety” regardless of context. The “variety” you seem to want already exists, its called Fiesta.
