This gun needs tweaking badly. hopefully before release.
it’s dominant over almost any gun at close range and is just constantly spammed.
you know it’s bad when just about everyone just switches to this as their starting weapon all game instead of using it for a backup like a pistol should be used.
The reticule bloom should be removed, the ammo count needs to be lowered, and it should take on vertical recoil just like the BR and commando. I think the reticule needs to be larger as well to properly balance this weapon.
opinions on this weapon anyone? This is what I would do to balance this weapon and give it it’s intended purpose.
It’s a close range weapon.
The bloom is to stop it being a cross map beast that would favour keyboard over controller.
I think it’s perfect for the job is is designed for. The AR has longer range than it, so the Sidekick is to be used at closer range than ideal AR range.
Live with it.

AR has longer range? you can single tap a guy who is one shot across a 4v4 slayer map.
AR won’t kill them before they get around a corner.
Not to mention the vertical recoil and reticle bloom the AR has.
The crosshairs are too tight and the lack of recoil encourages spam.

You asked for opinions so here is mine:
Remove bloom/random spread.
Keep the same ttk.
Reduce to 6sk.
Increase magazine size to 18 rounds.
Add descope to all guns which zoom.

on recharge, if you are at the ravager spawn, and there is a guy who is on shot at the BR spawn, you can kill him with one bullet of the sidekick with such tight crosshairs, you wont kill him with an ar.

Precision (aka, skill in landing your shots) should be rewarded. However, almost no one paces their shots with this; it’s purely whoever can spam the most shots, wins - and that’s not how it should be. There’s no skill in spraying and praying.
Exaggerated bloom on precision weapons is never going to create consistent gun fights.
343i seemed to understand this with Halo 5 and removed bloom (or made it very insubstantial) on the precision weapons. It’s the exact reason why Reach failed on the pro competitive scene and yet they’ve introduced a system where I can fire 7 sidekick shots in the exact same place as another player, but all my shots land and his last few shots miss due to bloom, or visa versa.
It’s the worst thing with the game atm for me. That and the weird aim assist that locks you in and then locks you off an opponent in a way that doesn’t feel good.
Umm it really doesn’t. Might be my fav weapon since the Halo 4 pistol. Any weaker and it’ll feel kind of useless.

I agree.
IMHO, a pistols main purpose should be a backup, not a starting weapon. People should not be running around with pistols drawn and survive in gunfights.
When you run out of your AR mag, switch to pistol for that headshot to finish them off at close range, or when any pickup weapon mag runs out, the pistol should be a great finisher.
It would be a cool weapon if someone could actually run around with a pistol and survive and dominate with it when its not intended to take that role in the weapon sandbox.
It would be rare, and feel rewarding.
Right now I feel its outperforming its role as a sidearm.
