You know that infinite will not be an open world, so I was thinking that it would be interesting to be able to play side missions or stories parallel to the main story, to be able to use odst, arbiter or another spartan, I don’t know, I just let my imagination fly XD
I’ve heard some people interested in the revival of something akin to Spartan Ops for this; I personally would rather just see Firefight come back, but a lot of people are very fond (in hindsight or otherwise) of what 343i did with SpOps. I would appreciate it if they tried to recontextualize the concept using more of an anthology approach and let you tackle individual extended missions as different characters in more dramatically varied situations like you’re suggesting.
Still though, for me, Firefight making it back in Infinite is the top priority.
Rather than side missions, I’d prefer some optional tasks within missions/levels that the player can attempt that don’t affect progression through the level. Similar to how in Tip of the Spear, you can optionally try to kill a Zealot before he runs away (failing to do so has no effect on the level, but success grants you an achievement). Infinite could provide extra encouragement for the player to attempt such optional tasks with an incentive, like a special power weapon pickup, or a drop-off of marines to support you through the level.
Also worth noting that an open-world environment has neither been confirmed nor officially denied for Infinite.

It could be like Chief viewing a record or a file of a mission. When he starts watching it, the player gains control of the character from the mission and relieve the mission.
Master Chief, another settlement has sent word that they need our help.
I just don’t see a Halo Campaign working as open-world, like The Witcher 3 or an Elder Scrolls. The New Mombasa hub-world worked in ODST, but that’s as far as I’d like it to go. Even then, not in a traditional story. Master Chief is a soldier with a job to do. For Halo Infinite, the most I want is expansive levels, with ‘Halo’ from Halo CE being the prime example. Just updated for 20 years later.
The discovery of what happened to the marines in Halo CE via Jenkins’ helmet camera was much more impactful than had we been able to play as Jenkins. Release a Spartan Ops season 2, or some DLC as ODSTs, set during the game, and I’ll absolutely play it. But as a separate entity.

Something like spartan ops would be great. There’s really some opportunity there for item unlock criteria. For example, beating all the side missions on solo legendary will give you a cool helmet, speed running the missions will award an exclusive emblem, etc. If firefight makes it in, I would also like to see mode specific rewards there.
All I want is dlc that does this
as long as it is something that adds value to the game and not something tacked on or recycled sure why not.
my idea would be something along the lines of optional objectives that work themselves into the story where it catches the gamers attention with passive dialogue.
find a lost squad, find record of something pertaining to larger universe/lore or find some bodies long dead add to the mystery etc etc…
if ever we did get DLC for Halo I would opt for something like Halo 3 ODST the open world/sequence of events made it much more better compared if the campaign went straight away right off the bat with no open world in it.

I agree with both statements. I really hope Halo Infinite doesn’t attempt an open world style. Halo campaigns should remain a linear (level by level) experience. I do want more expansive levels akin to Halo 3’s The Covenant, or The Ark, with a larger focus on the vehicle combat which has been sorely lacking in 343i’s Halo games (more so 5 than 4).
And yeah, they should focus on just making a really solid, great Halo campaign first, and worry about side missions later if they have any intention of doing them.
