Sick and Tired of the Covenant...

Am I the only one who’s getting fed up with the Covenant? How many times are we going to wipe them out before they all die?

If the Covenant take centre stage as the enemy in Halo 4, 5 and 6 I’ll be pissed.

So what do you guys think about the possibility of the Covenant being the main enemy again, 5 or 6 games later?

I agree with you, and I would actually prefer to not see any Covenant species in Halo 4 at all. If we DO see some in Halo 4, it should be just a few Elites at the max, or even better, keep them strictly to multiplayer.

After 10 years of fighting them, it’s time for something new. If anyone can’t get past that, then they are just holding the franchise back.

Elites and Grunts are supposed to be in it. But that would probably be it, the rest of the Covenant is likely out. And we still have no way to know what the Elites and Grunts are there for, they could be Allies, or Enemies. Heck, the Elites might just be multiplayer models.

> Elites and Grunts are supposed to be in it.

If you are referring to those Jada toys from that anonymous blog that has been making the rounds, I wouldn’t put much faith in that as “official” information since it isn’t. That and it’s odd that a blog would put it’s watermark on all of the images, which I doubt they would own if they are Jada’s toys.

Im sure the Covenant will return in some form sooner or later. Not the Covenant we know of, though. Maybe the Arbiter’s troops, who will most likely fight by our side, or the Servants of Abiding Truth, who would most likely appear as enemies if in the game. But the Covenant wouldn’t be the main enemy, because Halo 4 is supposed to feature an Ancient Enemy that may pose a threat even bigger than the Halo Array. Maybe those rebels on Venezia are going to appear as a side enemy sometime, like the Covenant could. Most likely, we’ll get something completely different though.

According to what? Some blog by an uninformed guy with a bunch of bad photoshop jobs on it? Not what I would call a very reliable source…

Between Frankie’s comment of “No purple” and some crappy blog, I’m willing to take my bets that there won’t be any Covenant,

The images are placeholders because the Halo 4 models for characters and vehicles haven’t been revealed yet, short MC and the Hog. The information listed in text is the real information.

There’s a reason you learned in Kindergarden that you don’t read a picture book by looking at the pictures. You read a picture book by reading the words, and allowing the images to give you an idea of what they mean.

Please don’t take the dodgy Jada toys blog piece or whatever it was as set in stone. Until Jada or 343 or MS say anything official, don’t take anything as read.

And what official source said anything that blog said is legit? If what he said is so true, why isn’t this on Waypoint? You can try and be condescending all you want, I’ll just be rational and remain skeptical until I get some concrete info.

343i already clarified that No Purple means the Covenant Religion has no sway on the game, not that the characters/species’ that once formed the Covenant won’t make an appearance.

I hope the covenant do show up very briefly for a few of the first missions in the campaign. I wanna see the Covie in the H4 engine. Then after we see the covenant, they are wiped out by a race of mysterious forerunner creatures and machines. I want to see many new enemies huge, giant, deadly forces of forerunner creations standing in our path.

The odds of the Covies being the main enemy is exactly: Zero. It’s been confirmed that it’ll be new, most likely the Precursors/Flood.

Link please.

Honestly I don’t have a problem if the Covenant are in Halo 4, I just wouldn’t like it if they have some major role in the game, like being the main enemy. I also wouldn’t like it if it did a Halo 2 thing where you took the role of a Covenant, especially since the story is suppose to be focused on the Master Chief and Cortana.

Its right on the Halo 4 page:

A New Trilogy Begins

“Halo 4 is the next blockbuster installment in the iconic franchise that’s shaped entertainment history and defined a decade of gaming. Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. Halo 4 marks the start of a new trilogy that begins with its release in 2012.”

Since there is no Covenant, I see no role they could play.

Well, if you’ve read Glasslands, you’ll know that the Elites are sort of busy dealing with their own survival to go around exploring the far reaches of the galaxy. Brutes are either fighting some Elites, serving them as slaves or off doing their own thing (most likely fighting each other). The Jackals just kept their ways of being pirates, but now trade with humans as well, since the Covenant no longer exists to give them stuff. Grunts, Hunters and Drones don’t have their own starships to go exploring either.

Now, we’re going to be in the middle of a random Shield World (possibly), where no Covenant have ever been. How do you expect us to be seeing/fighting Covenant? We know we’ll be seeing the UNSC at one point from the UNSC Infinity. But, once again, that is an ONI ship, and ONI are busy trying to create an Elite civil war, so they won’t have tons of ex-Covenant buddies on there. Don’t forget that a lot of Elites still hate humans too.

I’m glad you brought that up. Read it. It says “an ancient evil.” It says nothing about a new enemy. As far as I know, there is no “new enemy”. There’s an ancient enemy. (Sounds like the Flood to me.) Unless someone can find me a link where 343 is saying there’s a new enemy, I’m sticking to my belief that there isn’t one.
