I wonder if 343 will be shutting down the reach servers anytime soon because of the release of other games such as The Master Cheif Collection and Halo 5, which they will be needing to keep track of more and more servers. I hope this does not ever happen but it is still a possibility. What are your thoughts on the topic?
If they do shut down the servers what rank do you hope to be by then? I’m a little over 800,000cR away from Mythic so I hope to be at least a Nova.
Reach doesn’t have dedicated servers because it is an Xbox 360 game, not an Xbox One game. I don’t see why we would be unable to play Reach on Xbox Live as long as Xbox 360 remains Xbox Live compatible, which will probably be for at least a few more years.
Yes Reach doesn’t have dedicated servers but in each game the Xbox must connect with the Host Xbox and 343 servers to check the integrity of the content.
343 servers still play a very important part by handling the playlists and checking to make sure each player is not loading modded content. They also choose the host for the game and handle any host migrations during the game, issue out bans for people breaking the rules etc etc.
If they planned to drop support for Reach like Halo 2 they will give probably 12 months notice. I would imagine that support for Halo 3 may be first to go once they release MCC as folks will be able to play Halo 3 on that.
Reach won’t go offline for a long while. I’ve seen way too many of these floating around on the forum.

your all mistaken its a known fact that xbox 360 servers end sometime in 2015
there by any active functions for all 360 content will be shut down aswell.
basically at most you have until Dec,30,2015 and thats at the MAX it could possibly be.

It is clear to me you have zero idea at all what you’re talking about. I would look over your sources questionably but, of course, you have not provided any.
Here’s a source from last year saying that Xbox 360 will continue into 2016 and then be “phased out.” Of course we have no idea what exactly that means. It could be that the 360 will end that year or will continue with reduced support past that point. When we consider that Xbox One is doing rather poorly, and MS PR is not at all great, we may see the 360 go for considerably longer if it remains profitable. But 2015 is crap, there is not a single source I can find that confirms your “known fact.”
OP, Reach servers will end when the 360 ends. They are not going to do some piecemeal thing where Halo 3 goes, then Reach etc. It will all be at once, and once it does come, it will quite possibly be rather sudden. I hope MS chooses the non-douchy path and continues support past 2016, but to be on the safe side you should probably have all achievements, ranks etc. that you want completed by 2016.

That’s a glitch. I could still find matches when it said that.

That’s incorrect. Lowest I’ve ever seen is 6k. On a weekend I’ve seen it hit 24K. Hopefully Halo Reach never gets pulled offline. Tis my favorite!

No, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Please take your irrational guestimates somewhere else.
It wouldn’t shut down. Heck, Halo 3 has more of a chance of being shut down now.

No, 360 support will go for another two years or so, then everything gets shutdown.
