Since halo 4 has the lowest population out of halo 3 and reach, will 343i shut down halo 4 servers since halo 5 is coming out and not a lot of people play it and it’s also the most unpopular halo out there.
I seriously doubt it.
I more likely that Halo 3 would be shut down first, since it would be running on older, outdated servers and tech.
No, they most definitely won’t just because of how recently it was released and that it has a following, not large but still a following.
Probably not. It’s the most recent instalment of the Master Cheif Saga so I doubt it. Halo 3 is still doing 5k population each day.
Halo 3 will probably go down first. Then Halo 4, then Reach.
They won’t. A lot of people still play Halo 4.
No, some of these posters are dead wrong. None of the servers are getting shut down anytime soon. If they do get shut down it will be because the 360 is gone and ALL servers have been shut down. People still play ancient games like Lost Planet, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and COD 3 online so Halo 3, 4 and Reach aren’t going anywhere.
I don’t think any servers are getting shut down. But the last time I tried to play Halo 3 there were way less people on than i typically see on Halo 4
Really Halo 4 has the lowest population? I sold my Halo 3 and I only played Reach once, so I wouldn’t know their population. I would hope they don’t shut down their servers on a game that is only 3 years old.

Not that many people still play it. Halo 4’s population is round 10k at it’s peak, whereas Reach has 20-25k on average.

True, but there’s people playing it.

Yes, people are playing Halo 4. Good to know you can read.
What I was saying is that even though Reach may be vastly outdated in a few years, it’s likely that its population will remain higher than Halo 4’s, and that the Reach servers will remain online longer than the Halo 4 servers will.

Again, they will both be on until the 360 is no longer supporting Live. I don’t get why this isn’t getting through to some of you? I mean seriously, can you name a SINGLE 360 game where the servers have been taken down???

I can give more than 1 that I know of:
Army of Two
Army of Two : The 40th Day
Burnout Revenge
Burnout Paradise
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
Chromehounds
Almost all of EA’s games between 2006-2012
Almost all of 2K’s games up to 2014
All the games listed are on Xbox 360 and have had their multiplayer services removed. Not to mention that these games also have achievements that are no longer unlockable, since you need to play online multiplayer to earn them (specially Chromehounds since ALL its achievements are for online multiplayer.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat can still be played online. I didn’t know about the rest of those (although it makes sense for old sports games to go offline) but my point is that its a very rare occurrence. I’ve played a lot of random games that are 7+ years old with just about zero population, but the servers are nonetheless still up. It’s just annoying me that people are so set on this and there’s even an identical topic in the Reach section. Hell one member wrote a damn essay about how sad he was that h3 was gone and I played it 3 days ago lol. 343 hasn’t said anything about removing support for 360 games, and honestly with how unpopular this company has been recently they would be idiots to even contemplate it. I’m sure they know this and its no skin off their backs anyway since these games receive zero support and in Reach and 4 they’ve stripped out a lot of playlists anyway. Just wish some people on this site would use a little common sense and logic and not get themselves and others worked up over nothing.
I’ve played the original halo online, not combat evolved but original xbox halo

Then I think maybe you should let EA know, since its on their list of games who’s online services they have shut down.
http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates (Its about half way down the page in the Previously Shut Down Online Service section).

Not sure what game you’re talking about buddy, but Halo: Combat Evolved IS the original Halo game for Xbox. Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the original Xbox’s launch titles.
