Like alot of people I couldn’t find a formal way to give feedback on the tech test so I’ll make a post here for posterity.
I really enjoyed the gameplay overall but I’d like to point out my individual concerns that I don’t see anyone else in the community talking about.
The first thing is the aiming controls (on XBox One) feel more ‘difficult’ than past games. It feels as if the aim acceleration mechanic is too strong, or that aim assist is much weaker than previous games. I found that turning acceleration down to 1, from the default 2, and increasing the base sensitivity slightly to compensate helped even out how it felt but it didn’t seem quite right for me as someone who’s played a good amount of Reach, 4 and 5 recently.
The second thing is the slide mechanic’s behaviour off of low edges giving a speed boost of sorts. While YouTubers and others seem happy with it and we’re finding ways to slide boost around the maps I personally view this as an unintentional bug that’s creating a very strange ‘movement meta’ revolving around this behaviour. Personally I’d hope to see the developers change how this works early before the entire fanbase gets too attached because I’d rather not compete against players who are constantly jumpsliding off of every box and piece of cover on the map or have to do it myself to do well in the game. I don’t think this was intentionally designed to be how Infinite plays.
My last concern is the framerate on the original Xbox One. It’s rough, especially compared to how Halo 5 or other entries in the series perform. Turning down motion blur and other graphics settings in the menu did help but I worry about how larger game modes could suffer. I’ll be buying a next gen system as soon as one becomes available for me to buy but in the meantime performance is an issue.
I know people may disagree with me on things but I feel like they were worth pointing out as I haven’t seen other people voicing any concern about these things. Otherwise the game seems great and I look forward to seeing and playing more of it.
Thanks
I think these points are fair, I agree with the slide jump mechanic. The fans will become attached, then everyone will be doing it. I don’t think it really fits with the gameplay
For the FPS, we can hope this improves seeing as it was a tech preview.

Oh of course it’s a beta, I’m just giving feedback on things as they stand right now. I certainly hope things improve and smooth out, though to be honest I don’t hold alot of hope for last gen systems’ performance. I won’t say it’s intentional but the flight ran just bad enough to really make me wish I could find a series x for sale somewhere.

Oh course and that’s why we point these things out. If we say it’s perfect because it’s a beta, the potentially things won’t get fixed/changed.
Do you feel that the slides take away from the game? In 5 there is so much you could do with movement, and the biggest issue in that game (although it’s heavily part of the skill gap for that game) is that you can rush fresh spawners extremely fast over and over.
I didn’t mind the slides in infinite that much because it seemed to me you were left very vulnerable and they were in places that didn’t really break anything. I would have to see the other maps though. I don’t see It having the same affect of halo 5 at all though because thrusters a map pick up, and people would literally all have to funnel through 1 slide jump to gain a momentum advantage over the other team. Otherwise its 1 dude rushing in alone with no default safety net like thrusters existing.
So to me…from my perspective…I would imagine that they don’t “fix” it . Why does the slide even exist in the game? For an action like that which we speak of…ok slides seem to serve as some purpose. If it didn’t exist…what is really the point of having slide in the game at all then? Then at that point…like seriously…get rid of sprint if slide has no purpose right?
So to me it stays for a purpose, or just rework the movement altogether and get rid of sprint and slide. I’m sure people would actually like that.
