Showtime Halo 343 Comments?

I’ve never made the jump to the new official forums. I’ve always been an HBO guy and more of a lurker than anything else, but I wanted to see if someone from 343 could weigh in. I recently saw an announcement on a website that isn’t always credible and noticed an obvious mistake in Sgt. Johnson’s actor being listed as Keyes… then I saw that a human was supposed to be raised by The Covenant and realized they were just pranking Halo fans. Then I saw a similar story again Today and checked a few different sites, and found that supposedly this is real.

I realize that when a fandom is ignored and choices are made with no regard for a property that sometimes employees are barred from talking about the issue, so if anyone from 343 is allowed to actually talk about this, why is there such a disregard for the Halo property taking place at Showtime? Was 343 involved in this, or is it another Doom Annihilation situation? Was anyone involved on the Showtime side ever introduced to Halo, or were they given a generic Sci-Fi point-by-point of the property? Why are main character characterizations being completely ignored? Why are minority characters that are actually in the game NOT being announced? Johnson could head a series about the Original Spartan program that would delve more into the lore. Foe Hammer? She isn’t shown in the original game, yet still manages to be one of the best characters thanks to excellent voice acting and always saving our butt! Her backstory is SUCH a blank slate that is perfect for a TV series. Also, as this series is already non-cannon to Halo Lore up to this point, how are we to address it? Cannon adjacent? Alternate reality? Reboot? Reinterpretation? Is this related to Halo Infinite as a complete series revamp? Ignore all inconsistencies and contradictions like we did the Dry Dock of a Space built ship that can’t be brought into planetary atmosphere?

I know there was a few problems that led to Blomkamp Halo being reversed, but as it stands, the 2007 shorts are the best live action Halo we have up to this point (With the ODST campaign close behind). As a Halo fan I want to ignore this blatant spitting in the face of fans, but I also realize that sometimes game studios have NO input of these things (as appears obvious in this situation) and would like to hear from actual employees if they are allowed to speak freely on this issue. Otherwise I stand baffled.

Hey OP, we actually have a couple of topics open about the TV show at the moment. Rather than having loads of topics discussing the same thing, we’re trying to make much of the discussion a bit more organised. You can check out the Halo Universe forums for a few longer running topics and add your thoughts there
