I know you probably won’t read this but if you do, hi. I’m 12 years old have have been a dedicated halo fan since I was 8. I remember playing reach for the first time, receiving my used copy of halo 3 from GameStop, and getting halo 4 on launch night. I have loved the franchise from the first time I saw a lets play of halo 3 in 2009. I realize that there has been a long lead up to seeing Chiefs face, but if you don’t mind, can you not? I remember seeing him in cutscenes and playing as him myself, and he was always a role model. He was someone who I strived to be, and he was perfect. But he was faceless, he wore a mask to protect himself and most importantly, to protect me. He was a hero covered in metal and he symbolized the fact that no one man is truly great, even though he saved the universe he did so without reveling his face. He gave me an example of what to be, not a guideline. He wasn’t a figurehead like most role models, he was a real, true hero. And all i had to recognize him was his orange visor. I’ve watched him discover his humanity and I did it with him, but I still don’t know him. I’ve read the books, seen the theories and analyzed the games, but he is just a tool used by humanity to save themselves. He represents the true heroes, the ones you don’t see in the news or in presidential debates. So please, please don’t show his face. If you do you will defy everything he has taught me, and I can’t handle that. Don’t pay an actor to impersonate him, or use cgi to imitate him, let him just be the metal man.
Wh t is beautiful about him, is his visor. It’s reflective.
Every time you try to stare into his eyes all you can see are your own. And that made me realize something, as much as I don’t want to believe it, Chief isn’t real. He was made in a computer, the real hero was me. I controlled him and that mask he wore didn’t protect him, it protected me. All these years I’ve wanted to see him, what he really looks like. But all I need is a mirror
So when decide to show his face, and I know you will, use kinect to zoom in on the players face, show them that they are the real heroes, because I think that’s what I need. That’s what I need before the series ends, give him a heroes death and make him real.
