It is rare in a Halo game when we really get to feel that our foe is more advance than us. Sometimes you might get the feeling when you end up fighting 10 elites on legendary but no real feel for it.
The Human Covenant war was us fighting a far more advance foe. So advance that our most intelligent could barley understand their weapons. There is only 1 weapon in Halo that i can say really makes me feel like i’m fighting an Alien Race who is more advance than I and that weapon is the Needler.
Everything about that weapon scares me. Its magical tracing ability, the explosion from being shot too much and the pink mist that remembers me of Kid Buu with all his madness. The neelder really gets a good graps on fighting aan advance for but nothing else really sets that in. The plasma pistol does a bit but not too much.
This is something I’ve been asking for a while and it is very crucial to any Sci-Fi franchise and that is making the aliens feel advance. Other than a couple of floating vehicles the covenant doesn’t really give that feeling in game. Especially since some madman decided to make human weapons better than Covenant weapons. I like what 343i did in Halo 4 with making the zoomed version of the Light Rifle stronger than the other precision weapons.
That is a step in the right direction IMO. Now they need to find a way to do this to more weapons with out people raging out the BR being too weak, because other weapons that aren’t human you’re just getting your dally amount of millimeters if you don’t know how to use them.
I am one who does know how to use them and find them very entertaining but many don’t an choose to shun them to the point i ask why even have the other weapons if they are clearly out shinned by the others.
So back to the main point is creating a more advance fighting force. The Prometheans had some marvels of technology like making foes out of thin air, instant transmission, little combat buzzards, auto sentries and being able to revive dead troops. That is forerunner leave of tech that they bring to the battle but their weapons are still under powered. When before we found out that MC’s armor is only 1/6 the power of forerunner armor from guilty spark in Halo CE which Forerunners must of had really boring battles with the Ancient Humans.
Establishing the Covenant’s technological superiority might be to hard for 343i. So far them seem to not like the Covenant the least out of the factions they are working with right now. The only edge the Covenant has in game is active camo and jet packs. Both of which are used poorly. 343i really needs to drive that feeling that these aliens almost wiped out our entire race and would of destroyed the human galaxy.
Even in a way we humans have been down graded, for some reason we couldn’t understand the Covenant in Halo 4 when in Halo 2 Cortana literally snapped her fingers and translated everything Regret was chanting about.
Just saying it looks silly seeing a Spartan IV AI get killed by a grunt then see another kill an elite.
With all the technology being all mixed up like a big huge plate of stir fry i must say, what is going on in the Halo universe right now? All this technology brings me to a big point. Another thing in Halo that i feel needs to be made alot more clear and that is ODSTs and Spartan IV’s but that is another time.
