All we got was to add Armor Effects to the Elites, why not give them more attention one last time by allowing to have tge Halo 2 A / Halo 4 Customization for them. Examples:
Disagree with gaving armorless elites but agree with the other stuff, tho id imagine h4/h2a armor wouldnt fit well onto the models but h4 elite armor would be great for h2a
We’re definitely overdue for this. The way I see it, they need don’t make it in depths like the Spartans. Just enough so that we look a little different. While I agree with the amount of options you’re suggesting, let’s not forget that Elite armors also have unique light colors.
The Officer armor uses red lights. The General uses golden. The Minor, Spec-Ops, Ultra, Zealot and Field Marshal use blue. Ranger uses a sort of light green. They can make a system where you can choose armor light colors, something unique for them that the Spartans don’t have, you know?
Additionally, would love if, with this system, they would give us a Silent Shadow helmet. Shouldn’t be too difficult, since it’s an edit of the Spec-Ops helmet. But hey, if they gave us a full armor set based around the Silent Shadow, I wouldn’t complain.
You reach kids are never satisfied with anything huh???
In all honesty though, this is on Bungie, not even remotely has anything to do with 343 Industries.
If anything, It probably is next to impossible for 343 Industries to rework the coding to add new armor to MCC version of Reach elite models, even if they could, do you really think 343 Industries will take time off of Infinite to focus on 1 aspect of 1 game in the MCC?
I know I wouldn’t unless it was to add New content across all the games, from maps, armor to new gameplay mechanics.
MCC is complete, rather anyone likes it or not, 343 stated the last big content update hit the game with its last seasonal insider update.
You’re reaching for nothing by asking for anything with Halo Reach.
If they could add more customisation options to Halo 3, they can definitely do the same for Reach Elites.
MCC has a team of it’s own, small as it is. It’s not the whole studio focusing on something.
Also, 343 stated it was the last of the seasonal content. They said they would continue to develop on other features and launch as they’re ready, as it was the case with ODST’s Flood Firefight.
That and one of the Elite-on-Elite assassinations were removed I guess for looking too brutal. It’s an M-rated game, though, so they should just re-enable it since it’s not removed, just disabled.
I’ve looked at the files and models to maybe get into modding and the way Elite armor is handled is completely different to the Spartans in that each armor set is all together in one model. It MIGHT be able to be separated and I really hope it is but that’s far beyond any of my capabilities and I’d love to see it get official support instead of it only being available in a future mod.
I’ll do a partial copypost of my thoughts and opinions in a prior thread on the same topic:
The result of the glitch would create a randomized character model along with armor details. If the Hologram creator uses an Elite model, the hologram will have a white Minor armor and a random Armor Effect. The same applies to the Spartan model, whereby the hologram will get any randomised armor in the game.
To expand to this, the only likely change wrt Reach Elite customization would probably either be @SilentRebel38 's suggestion of altering the armor light colors (maybe part of a universal customization UI update to enable the modification of armor lights from H1 to H4; a very useful addition in regards to H3’s Anvil+ armor permutations), and/or a toggle to remove the helmet from the Reach Elite’s model as depicted by the hologram glitch.
I agree. The Elite customization in Halo Reach deserves the same update that the H2A Elite customization got. The ability to swap out shoulder pieces (both left and right individually from one another), arms, legs, helmet, and chest piece interchangeably would allow for a lot more player freedom in customization.
You can actually already do that. If the host is a PC player then you can invite an Xbox player and they can do it too. All you have to do is to load up a firefight map into a custom game as if it was a regular multiplayer map. This is possible with a very small UI change but doing that requires the host to have Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) off. Afterwards, do you know how in some Reach gametypes you can be put in control of a player model that isn’t your own? The same trick can be done in these firefight maps but to control the AI characters because the firefight maps have the necessary files.
If 343i were to add the “bipeds” of some of the AI characters into the Forge World map files then we could play as Grunts in the Custom Game Browser. I’m 100% serious and I know it’s correct first-hand.
I think this is a pretty big reason why we don’t have it. It’s a “non-trivial” change to make. I personally wonder how it would affect the biped spawning that can be done in the Megalo scripting language in Reach gametypes.
